Job summary

Shadowfax Technologies is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee end‑to‑end warehouse activities in Mumbai. You will drive inbound/outbound flows, optimize space, and ensure accurate stock handling while meeting client SLAs.

You will lead a large on‑site team, plan rostering, and partner with HR to onboard and train staff, while promoting safety and continuous improvement across the floor.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

• Own daily execution across Inbound (unloading, quality check, putaway), Storage, Outbound (picking, packing/sortation, dispatch), and Returns Processing (RTO/RVP reinventorization and restock).
• Deliver Dock-to-Stock TAT, Outbound dispatch TAT, and Returns processing TAT against defined SLAs.
• Plan and flex capacity ahead of monthly and seasonal (peak/sale-event) volume swings, using the site monthly demand forecast.
• Manage ground-stack pallet storage space utilization, aisle discipline, dead-stock control, and stock accuracy.

2. People & Manpower Management

• Lead a peak workforce of ~90-110 FTE and FTC across Unloading, Putaway, Picking, Packing/Sortation, Returns, Supervisors, and Support Staff (maintenance, security, housekeeping, admin).
• Own manpower planning, shift rostering, and productivity tracking (units/person/hour by role) against the site rate cards.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, training, and attendance management in partnership with HR/staffing partners.
• Build a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement on the floor.

3. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the single point of contact for the client (e.g. Flipkart) at the site level.
• Lead SLA reviews, escalation resolution, and client site visits/audits.
• Represent site performance in weekly/monthly business reviews with the client and internal leadership.

4. Cost & Commercial Management

• Own the site operating cost Warehousing (Rent+CAM, Manpower, Opex, Capex amortization), Pickup (inbound FTL/PTL freight), and Last-Mile.
• Track and improve Cost-Per-Unit (CPU) by category, and understand which cost bucket (Warehousing, Pickup, or Last-Mile) is driving it.
• Manage third-party vendor costs MHE (BOPT/HPT), IT/WMS, housekeeping, security and identify cost-optimization opportunities.
• Control local capex/opex spend within approved site budget.

5. Safety, Compliance & Quality

• Ensure fire safety, MHE operating safety, and statutory compliance (labour law, PF/ESI, Fire NOC, factory license, etc.).
• Drive a zero-harm culture; investigate and close out safety incidents with root-cause corrective action.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and cycle-count compliance targets.
• Uphold QC standards for RTO/RVP grading, reinventorization, and restock decisions.

6. Technology & Systems

• Ensure WMS and RF-scanner uptime and adoption across Inbound, Putaway, Picking, and Returns.
• Partner with IT/Tech teams to resolve system issues and drive floor-level process automation.
• Own data accuracy for site reporting inbound, outbound, inventory, and manpower.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement process improvements that reduce Cost-Per-Unit and improve turnaround time.
• Lead Kaizen/5S initiatives on the warehouse floor.
• Benchmark site performance against other sites in the network and adopt best practices.
