Job summary

Premier Solar Systems in Tirupati, India seeks an experienced Production Planning Lead to manage end-to-end planning and scheduling for solar cell and module production lines. You will develop rolling plans aligned with demand, forecast, and capacity, while driving bottlenecks and throughput improvements.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Procurement & SCM for materials, monitoring KPIs, and guiding cross-functional teams to ensure OTIF delivery and optimal plant utilization.

Qualifications

• BE / BTech in Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Industrial or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of production planning & material planning.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Lead end-to-end production planning and scheduling for Solar Cell / Module manufacturing lines to ensure optimum plant utilization and OTIF delivery performance.

• Develop rolling production plans aligned with customer demand, sales forecast, manufacturing capacity, and business priorities.
• Drive capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, and throughput optimization across manufacturing processes.
• Monitor line balancing, takt time, and production efficiency to improve productivity and reduce idle time.
• Ensure effective coordination with Procurement & SCM teams for timely availability of imported and domestic raw materials.
• Review and validate MRP outputs, shortage reports, and material planning strategies for critical components.
• Optimize production sequencing based on technology mix, wattage configuration, model changes, and customer priorities.
• Analyze production constraints and proactively mitigate risks impacting delivery timelines.
• Drive inventory optimization initiatives to minimize excess inventory, aging stock, and slow-moving materials.
• Monitor daily adherence to production plans and publish variance analysis with recovery action plans.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve machine utilization.
• Ensure adherence to production KPIs such as Plan Adherence, OEE, Yield, Inventory Turns, OTIF, and Capacity Utilization.
• Lead cross-functional reviews for production readiness, demand fluctuations, and dispatch commitments.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), pilot runs, and ramp‑up planning for new technologies or product variants.
• Drive digitization and automation initiatives in PPC processes using SAP, ERP, Power BI, or advanced planning tools.
• Prepare and present MIS dashboards, planning analytics, and management reports to leadership teams.
• Coordinate with Quality teams to minimize rework, rejection, and production losses impacting planning commitments.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, ISO, and operational audit requirements related to planning and material management.
• Lead manpower planning coordination for shift‑wise production requirements.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization through improved planning, reduced changeovers, and efficient resource allocation.
• Mentor and guide PPC executives and planners to strengthen planning systems and operational discipline.
• Participate in strategic S&OP discussions and contribute towards long‑term capacity expansion planning.
• Work closely with Dispatch and Logistics teams to ensure smooth shipment planning and customer fulfillment.
• Ensure accurate master data management including BOMs, routing, cycle times, and production parameters in ERP systems.
• Support commissioning and stabilization activities for new production lines/plants.
• Handle customer escalation priorities and ensure recovery planning for critical deliveries.
• Strong understanding of Solar Cell / Module manufacturing processes including Stringing, Layup, Lamination, Framing, EL Testing, Cell Processing, and Final Packing.

Preferred candidate profile

Education: BE / B Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Industrial) or equivalent.
