Job summary

GKB Hitech Lenses Private Limited in Goa seeks a Senior Purchase Engineer – Mechanical to manage end-to-end procurement of machinery, spares, engineering components, and MRO items for plant operations.

You will drive strategic sourcing, supplier development, negotiations, and cost optimization, coordinating with Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics and Finance to ensure timely material receipt.

Experience in SAP MM and a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement.
• Strong experience in mechanical procurement, machinery/spares and MRO sourcing.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
• Hands-on experience with SAP MM preferred.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Purchase Engineer – Mechanical to manage end-to-end procurement of machinery, machinery spares, engineering components, MRO items, and technical materials.

The role will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, supplier performance, and timely availability of critical materials to support uninterrupted plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of machinery, mechanical spares, engineering components, MRO and technical materials.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify and develop OEMs, manufacturers, distributors and alternate suppliers.
• Conduct market research, source new vendors and develop alternate sources for critical materials.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations considering price, technical specifications, quality, lead time, payment terms, warranty and logistics.
• Conduct price benchmarking, cost analysis and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranty and other commercial conditions.
• Read and understand mechanical drawings, BOMs, specifications, catalogues and technical datasheets, coordinating technical evaluation with Engineering/Maintenance.
• Prepare and release Purchase Orders in SAP MM, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, pricing, GST/HSN, delivery and commercial terms.
• Monitor open POs and ensure timely order confirmation, production, dispatch and delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, pricing, responsiveness and service and drive corrective actions.
• Manage procurement of critical machinery spares and long-lead items to minimize supply and production risks.
• Handle domestic and import procurement, including coordination with Logistics/Freight Forwarders for shipment and commercial documentation.
• Maintain complete procurement records including vendor database, quotations, comparative statements, POs, invoices, GRNs and delivery documentation.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Stores, Finance, Accounts, Logistics and Quality for timely procurement and material receipt.
• Coordinate PO/GRN/invoice matching, advance payments, outstanding payments and commercial discrepancies with Finance.
• Prepare procurement MIS, supplier payment plans, procurement reports and management dashboards.
• Identify and elevate delayed orders, critical supply risks and potential production interruptions.
• Ensure procurement complies with approved budgets, authorization limits, company policies, internal controls and audit requirements.

Candidate Profile

• B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement.
• Strong experience in mechanical procurement, machinery/spares and MRO sourcing.
• Manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceutical, medical device, automotive or similar technical-industry experience preferred.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and vendor-management skills.
• Hands-on experience with SAP MM is preferred.
