Job summary

Layam group in India seeks a Senior Executive Production / Process Engineering to oversee safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction in our glass manufacturing unit. The role requires 4–5 years of hands-on experience and a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Industrial & Production Engineering.

You will drive shop-floor control, mentor operators, conduct systems audits, and coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Planning to deliver continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of experience in production/process engineering in glass manufacturing.
  • BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Industrial & Production Engineering.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction targets.
  • Experience with TPM, TQM and systems audits.
  • Strong leadership and training abilities.
  • Proficient in shop floor control and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe operating practices per SOPs and QMS/EMS requirements.
  • Maintain accident-free workplace and timely closure of safety countermeasures.
  • Drive machine availability, cycle time adherence and productivity.
  • Implement PDCA-based improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Train operators in TPM/Kaizen/5S and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality and Planning to close gaps.
  • Maintain daily control charts and conduct process audits per PQCT.

JD Senior Executive Production / Process Engineering

Department: Production / Process Engineering
Experience: 4–5 Years
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Industrial & Production Engineering

Job Purpose

To ensure smooth process operations and achieve targets related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost Reduction, Manpower Development, Systems Audit and Shop Floor Control.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety

  • Ensure safe operating practices as per SOPs and QMS/EMS requirements.
  • Ensure an accident-free workplace and timely closure of safety countermeasures.
  • Conduct machine danger prediction/KY and risk assessment.
  • Promote safety awareness among shop-floor employees.
  • Drive near-miss reporting and safety audits.

2. Quality

  • Proactively identify and prevent defects and quality flow-outs.
  • Ensure adherence to customer quality requirements.
  • Train operators in problem-solving techniques.
  • Implement TQM practices and reduce PPM.
  • Monitor process yield, rejection, QACRs and product audit performance.

3. Productivity

  • Ensure machines operate at defined cycle time.
  • Improve machine availability and production output.
  • Reduce rework generation.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and failure analysis using analytical tools.
  • Implement PDCA-based improvements.

4. Cost Reduction

  • Improve the life of key consumables.
  • Conduct trials with alternate sources.
  • Support localisation of consumable items.
  • Monitor TG-1 data and cost-saving initiatives.

5. Manpower Development

  • Train operators on machines, systems, TPM, Kaizen, 5S and safety.
  • Provide on-the-job training.
  • Promote employee participation in Quality Circles.
  • Maintain and upgrade skill matrices.

6. Systems Audit

  • Develop innovative process improvement ideas.
  • Ensure process parameters remain within standard limits.
  • Maintain daily control charts.
  • Certify operators/inspectors.
  • Maintain 5S and TPM standards.
  • Conduct process audits as per PQCT.

7. Shop Floor Control

  • Ensure operators follow defined systems and job standards.
  • Conduct daily toolbox and CFT meetings.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Quality teams to close plan‑vs‑actual gaps.
  • Conduct rejection and Red‑Bin analysis.
  • Execute monthly improvement plans.
  • Improve shop‑floor 5S performance.

Required Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of machines and glass processing.
  • Knowledge of TQM, TPM, TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Understanding of quality standards, systems and procedures.
