Job summary

Chemplast Sanmar in Salem, Tamil Nadu, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Engineer to handle calibration, installation, and commissioning of field instruments across process lines. The role requires hands-on experience with control valves, flow meters, transmitters, PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), SCADA/DCS systems, and preventive maintenance as per schedules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge on calibration, checking, servicing, trouble shooting, installation & commissioning capability of field instruments such as control valves, flow meters (electromagnetic, mass flow), transmitters (DP, pressure, temperature), temperature elements (RTD, thermocouple, pyrometer), pressure & temperature indicators, level transmitters (DP, radar)
• Capability to check and service safety valves, control valves, shutoff valves & pressure regulating valves
• Knowledge on calibration & checking of gas detectors & analyzers (pH, conductivity, oxygen meters etc). Configuration of process controllers (PID) & on-off controllers
• Installation, checking, trouble shooting & calibration of weighing systems
• System knowledge- PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens) & SCADA and DCS. Trouble shooting & logic checking of relay based interlocks & PLC based. Study of wiring drawings. Knowledge on rotary equipment PLCs & interlocks
• Carrying out preventive maintenance by adhering to the schedule, calibration, compiling of maintenance check lists. Preparation of calibration records to fulfill the customer requirements & other audit requirements.
• Knowledge on PLC based bagging machines & trouble shooting
• Ability to analyze root cause and trouble shoot. Knowledge on critical spares in instrumentation equipment
• Knowledge in electrical safety. Knowledge of protective equipment related to all instruments
• Skill to anticipate potential breakdowns.
• To understand the training requirement of the team and provide them based on it.
• Process Safety procedures 14. Exposure in Project activities like Installation, erection & Commisioning of Instrumentation activities

Job description
