The role will translate Islamic banking business needs, Shariah principles, and regulatory requirements into clear, delivery-ready requirements for engineering teams. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Implementation, Compliance, and client‑facing teams, this role will define and validate Shariah‑aligned solutions across Islamic financing, deposits, pool management, profit calculation, distribution, accounting, controls, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and refine the functional backlog for Islamic banking capabilities, converting roadmap priorities, client needs, regulatory changes, and Shariah requirements into user stories, business rules, workflows, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Act as the product ownership partner for Engineering, clarifying requirements, resolving functional questions, supporting prioritization trade‑offs, and ensuring the delivery team understands the business problem, expected behaviour, and customer value.
  • Provide Islamic banking subject matter expertise across structures such as Murabaha, Ijarah, Mudarabah, Musharakah, Tawarruq, Wakala, Islamic deposits, profit‑sharing models, pool management, and profit distribution.
  • Translate Shariah principles into system behaviour, controls, approval flows, documentation needs, accounting treatment, disclosures, operational procedures, and audit evidence.
  • Lead requirements elicitation, gap analysis, impact assessment, solution validation, and functional design discussions with Product, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Compliance, Implementation, and client stakeholders.
  • Support Agile delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning, story clarification, demos, defect triage, UAT, release validation, and post‑go‑live stabilization.
  • Define and validate test scenarios for Islamic banking journeys, financing workflows, profit distribution cycles, pool management, accounting postings, regulatory controls, and exception handling.
  • Facilitate workshops, client walkthroughs, demos, and solution fitment discussions, acting as a trusted domain advisor for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain functional documentation, configuration guidance, process flows, decision logs, requirement traceability, and enablement material for Engineering, QA, Implementation, Support, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
Required Skills & Experience

Strong experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Functional Consultant, or Domain SME in banking technology, with significant exposure to Islamic banking. Deep understanding of Islamic banking products, Shariah‑compliant structures, financing workflows, deposits, profit calculation, pool management, Islamic accounting implications, and regulatory expectations. Proven ability to prepare BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflow diagrams, use cases, data requirements, functional specifications, and test scenarios. Hands‑on experience working with Agile/Scrum teams across discovery, design, build, testing, release, and production support. Strong communication, facilitation, analytical, influencing, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to bridge Product Management and Engineering. Experience with Islamic core banking platforms, digital Islamic banking journeys, regulatory compliance, audit, Shariah review, cloud‑native, platform‑based banking solutions, Agentic platform and AI literacy is desirable.
