Job summary

TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS SCS) invites an operations supervisor to manage day-to-day in-plant logistics and material handling at the customer plant in India. You will oversee receipt to dispatch, line feeding, kitting, picking, inventory accuracy and safety standards, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.

You will plan and deploy manpower across shifts, monitor KPI dashboards, conduct safety briefings, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise day-to-day in-plant logistics and material handling operations at the customer plant.
• Ensure smooth execution of material receipt, unloading, storage, line feeding, kitting, picking and dispatch as per defined SOPs.
• Plan and deploy manpower across shifts based on operational requirements and workload.
• Supervise and guide warehouse operators, material handlers, pickers, loaders and other operational staff.
• Ensure timely and accurate line-side material feeding to support uninterrupted production.
• Monitor material movement from warehouse to production lines and ensure proper documentation and system transactions.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, Customer and Transport teams for smooth operations.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and ensure proper stock identification, binning, FIFO/FEFO and material traceability, wherever applicable.
• Identify and resolve operational issues related to shortage, excess, damage, wrong material, line stoppage and inventory discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to customer-specific processes, SOPs, work instructions and operational KPIs.
• Monitor daily productivity, manpower utilisation, attendance and shift performance.
• Prepare and review daily operational reports, MIS and KPI dashboards.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock verification and coordinate for reconciliation of discrepancies.
• Ensure proper handling of materials to minimise damage, loss and operational wastage.
• Ensure compliance with 5S, safety, PPE and statutory requirements within the assigned operational area.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings and ensure safe working practices among team members.
• Coordinate with HR for manpower availability, attendance, absenteeism, discipline and employee-related issues.
• Train new employees on operational processes, safety requirements and customer-specific SOPs.
• Monitor the performance of team members and provide regular feedback to improve productivity and quality.
• Support implementation of continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Escalate critical operational issues to the Operations Manager/Site Manager on a timely basis.
• Ensure smooth shift handovers and effective communication between incoming and outgoing teams.
