Synechron is seeking a skilled IBM i developer to design, build, and maintain applications using RPGLE, ILE RPG, CLLE, and DB2 on AS/400. You will analyze business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.

The role requires strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support capabilities, with collaboration across BA, QA, and stakeholders throughout the SDLC. Experience with SQL and database design is essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with RPGLE, ILE RPG, CLLE and DB2 on IBM i (AS/400).
  • Good understanding of IBM i environment and maintenance workflows.
  • Experience in production support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in SQL, embedded SQL, and database design concepts.
  • Familiarity with SDLC, change management and version control processes.

Responsibilities

Job description

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using RPGLE, ILE RPG, CLP, and DB2 on IBM i (AS/400) platform.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform application support, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and modify database files, stored procedures, and reports.
  • Work closely with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
  • Support production deployments and provide post-implementation assistance.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in RPGLE, ILE RPG, Free Format RPG, CLLE, and DB2/400.
  • Good understanding of IBM i (AS/400) environment.
  • Experience in application maintenance, enhancements, and production support.
  • Knowledge of SQL, embedded SQL, and database design concepts.
  • Experience with debugging, performance optimization, and incident resolution.
  • Understanding of SDLC, change management, and version control processes.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Retail domains.
  • Exposure to APIs, web services, and application integration.
  • Knowledge of Aldon, TurnOver, or other IBM i change management tools.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
