Job summary

Siemens Energy, Inc. in India seeks a Project Lead Engineer (Rotating Engineer) to drive technical execution of client orders with a focus on risk assessment and collaboration across engineering teams.

You will align with PM processes, apply quality and EHS standards, coach junior REPEs, and use tools like SharePoint, Jira for project management. 5 years rotating machinery experience preferred; BE/B.Tech in mechanical.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in mechanical engineering or related fields.
• Up to 5 years of experience with industrial equipment or projects, including rotating equipment in oil & gas.
• Familiar with rotating machinery concepts: rotor dynamics, machinery vibration, and control.
• Proven analytical and communication skills in written and verbal work.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical execution of a few assigned client orders, striving for execution excellence.
• Align with the Project Management Process and apply Quality and EHS standards.
• Use global collaborative tools (SharePoint, Jira, Globus) for efficient team project management.
• Follow a project leadership approach and present primary technical alternatives to PM and stakeholders.
• Perform technical risk assessment and evaluate execution risk for project success and cost control.
• Follow design authority guidance from engineering managers/lead engineers and area experts.
• When conflicts arise, evaluate options and communicate the recommended path forward to the PM and COE.
• Coach junior REPEs as requested by the manager.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Responsibility for this position: coordinate yourself the technical execution of a few assigned client orders ; striving for execution excellence
• Align with the applicable Project Management Process in place, as well as apply the Company standards regarding Quality and EHS management.
• Use global collaborative tools (SharePoint, Jira, Globus) recommended by COE management for efficient team project management.
• Follow a project leadership approach and not just a catalogue of design recipes: rather than select right away “the best technical solution” when facing critical decisions, compile and submit to the PM scenarii or alternatives that compare as required.
• Technical risk assessment, execution risk for Company, Client benefit, possible impact on project spend & critical path.
• Depend on, and generally follow the design authority held by the relevant engineering team managers or lead engineers (e.g. Core Compressor, Systems, Controls, Package integration), or with the concerned area expert (e.g. rotor dynamics, metallurgy).
• In case of technical recommendations conflicting with each other, evaluate, decide and communicate on the way forward. If important metrics are at risk, recommend a solution to the project manager and Center of Excellence for resolution.
• Upon request of his manager, coach one or a few less experienced REPE(s) through the challenges of their assigned jobs.

What You Bring

• BE/B.Tech in mechanical engineering or – other degrees in systems, chemical or fluid dynamics engineering with rotating machinery experience.
• Upto 5 years of experience with industrial equipment, services or projects, among which ideally 2 years responsibilities in relation with rotating equipment for O&G industry in one or several of these functions: product or system engineering, design development, machine testing, installation, commissioning, operation, repair, upgrade.
• Familiar with the functional principles and the associated auxiliary systems (centrifugal compressor; reciprocating compressor; aeroderivative or industrial-type gas turbine; condensation or back-pressure steam turbine; electric machinery)
• Detailed knowledge of system instrumentation and wiring methods, compressor process design, control, and/or dynamic simulation; piping and valving; package layout.
• Application of materials, welding, and coating systems; rotor dynamics; aero-thermodynamic performance calculation; specification of couplings and gearboxes; vibration analysis
• Machinery trouble‑shooting; any industry standard relevant for O&G markets (count 1 for each individual standard in libraries like: API, ASME, EU Directives, IEC, CSA, NORSOK, NR, etc..)
• Curious of products and technologies, keen on learning on the fly.
• Proven analytical and communication skills when processing or delivering written and verbal information
