Job summary

Siemens Energy in India seeks a Packaging / System Engineer to apply and execute process and mechanical systems for reciprocating compressors and integrally geared centrifugal compressors. You will lead rotating equipment projects from sales handover through installation, testing, and warranty phases.

The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, collaboration across interdisciplinary teams, and a hands-on approach to meet project milestones and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering specialization.
• Experience in reciprocating compressors and integrally geared centrifugal compressors.
• Knowledge of API-618, API-617, ISO-13631, API 614, API-610, API-671.
• Basic knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps and related components.
• Ability to read and prepare package engineering drawings (P&ID, GA, foundations, piping plans, isometrics).
• Exposure to international consultants (EIL/TEIL/UHDE/LTC/Shell) is a plus.
• Knowledge of ASME/ASTM/API/DIN/AWS codes; piping (B31.3/B31.1).

Responsibilities

• Handle mechanical systems scope for rotating equipment packages.
• Develop and coordinate P&IDs using COMOS for process gas, utilities, and driver systems.
• Consolidate technical information into project docs (utilities, cable lists, setpoints).
• Perform engineering calculations for sizing components like heat exchangers and valves.
• Write technical specs for auxiliary equipment and modules.
• Own layouts and routings for safety, maintainability and operability.
• Assist Project Lead Engineer in engaging with customers on risks and opportunities.
• Participate in HAZOP and SIL studies for applicable systems.
• Support production tasks, handle non-conformances and deviation reviews.
• Supervise packaging schedule and budget; support bid management and front-end engineering.
• Provide systems engineering support to commissioning and field service.
• Attend project invention reviews and document findings.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Handle the mechanical systems technical scope for rotating equipment packages.
• Develop process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) applying COMOS for process gas, utility, and driver (Engine, Turbine, Electric Motor) systems.
• Develop and coordinate technical information from systems for consolidation into overall project documentation – utilities, cable lists, instrument setpoints etc.
• Conduct engineering calculations for the sizing and selection of systems components, such as heat exchangers, Scrubbers (KOD), control valves, safety valves, filters, accumulators, tanks, and pumps.
• Author technical specifications for purchase of auxiliary equipment and system modules.
• Own the internal layout and routings of systems for safety, maintainability, and operability.
• Aid the Project Lead Engineer (PLE) in engaging with both internal and external customers to run technical risks and identify potential opportunities.
• Participate in HAZOP and SIL studies to represent the applicable systems and nodes.
• Assist with production tasks within and outside the organization, which involves handling non-conformances and reviewing material deviation requests.
• Supervise and own the packaging engineering schedule and budget, ensuring punctual completion of work.
• Provide support to bid management (BM) and front-end engineering (FEE) to review and provide comments and exceptions to client specifications and to identify deviations from standards and to estimate commercial impacts if compliance is required.
• Provide systems engineering expertise and support to commissioning and field service.
• Conduct invention reviews on Packaging / systems engineering scope and attend project invention reviews.
  
  
  

What You Bring

• Minimum Education Level: Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience and proven experience. Specialization Field: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
• Draft reciprocating compressor, project, and package engineering for turbo compressors, project packages, and assembly of synchronized packages.
• Knowledge of Industry Standards e.g. API-618, API-617, ISO-13631 (or API11P), API 614, API-610, API-671 etc.
• Basic knowledge of Rotating equipment compressor/ Pumps & other mechanical items, engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawings
• Reading and Preparation of Package Engineering drawings like P&I Diagram, General Arrangement, Foundation Plan, piping plan and piping isometric drawings.
• Experience/ Exposure to work with & interpretation of technical specifications of - world-class consultants like: EIL / TEIL / UHDE / LTC / Technip / Shell DEP / SAUDI ARAMCO / PDO etc.
• Knowledge & exposure of international standards, codes like: ASME / ASTM / API / DIN / AWS, relevant to static equipment & piping. Understanding of B31.3 / B 31.1 piping composition.
