About the Role
We're looking for a Robotics Engineer- Design to join our engineering team, working on the design and development of mechanical and mechatronic systems. This role combines mechanical design with an understanding of how mechanical components integrate with electronics, sensors, and control systems. You'll take designs from concept through simulation, prototyping, and testing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical components, structures, and assemblies from concept through detailed CAD and surfacing tools.
- Design for mechatronic integration i.e. packaging motors, actuators, sensors, and electronics into compact, functional, and serviceable assemblies
- Build and iterate on physical prototypes, refining designs based on test results and feedback
- Run structural, thermal, or other simulations (FEA) to validate designs against real-world operating loads and conditions
- Select appropriate materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes for the intended application and environment
- Collaborate with electronics, controls, and software engineers to ensure mechanical designs support overall system performance
- Prepare drawings, tolerancing, and technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly
- Support test planning and execution to validate prototypes against design requirements
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Strong CAD skills (preferably SolidWorks or similar) and experience taking designs from concept to manufactured prototype
- Experience with Surfacing tools.
- Experience with simulation/FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent)
- Understanding of mechatronic systems i.e. how mechanical design interacts with motors, actuators, sensors, and electronics
- Robotics experience preferred: academic projects, competitions, internships, or industry work involving robotic or automated systems
- Experience with rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, machining) and DFM/DFA principles
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
- Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Candidates from Oil & Gas and wastewater industries will be preferred.
- Note: Candidates are encouraged to share a design or project portfolio highlighting relevant work and accomplishments. Submission of a portfolio is optional and not a mandatory requirement.
