Job summary

Muks Robotics – The Humanoid Company in Pune, India is seeking a mechanical design engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of robotic components, assemblies, and structures. You will create detailed 3D models, drawings, and manufacturing-ready designs using Creo, including surface modelling for complex components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years of hands-on mechanical design and product development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Creo for 3D modelling, assemblies, and drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, sheet metal, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, and DFMA/DFMEA.

Job description

• Lead the mechanical design and development of robotic components, assemblies, mechanisms, and structures.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and manufacturing-ready designs using Creo including surface modelling/surfacing for complex components.
• Generate and manage BOMs, ensuring accurate part numbers, quantities, materials, and component information.
• Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies, including enclosures, brackets, frames, and covers.
• Apply DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, cost, and production efficiency.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis to ensure dimensional accuracy and reliable assembly.
• Conduct and contribute to DFMEA to identify potential design risks and implement preventive and corrective actions.
• Work with vendors and manufacturing teams on laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, fabrication, and finishing.
• Prototyping using FDM 3D printing, from print-ready design preparation to prototype evaluation and design iteration.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design iterations of mechanical systems.
• Select materials, components, and manufacturing processes based on performance, manufacturability, availability, and cost.
• Collaborate with electronics, robotics, software, and manufacturing teams for mechanical and electromechanical integration.
• Review and optimize existing designs for performance, durability, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
• Maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and revision records.
• Conduct design reviews, resolve mechanical and manufacturing challenges, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–3 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong proficiency in Creo for 3D modelling, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, GD&T, tolerancing, sheet metal design, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands‑on experience with sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, bending, welding, and machining.
• Practical understanding of DFMA and DFMEA.
• Experience with materials selection and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, machining, and injection molding.
• Experience with robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with ANSYS or Creo Simulation is desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced robotics startup environment.
