Job summary

Boss Hydraulics seeks a Deputy Manager Quality to lead the Quality Management System and drive continuous improvements across manufacturing operations.

The role oversees incoming, in-process and final inspections, supplier quality, and internal audits while coordinating CAPA actions and quality reporting to management.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality management within manufacturing (hydraulic valves/engineering).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Monitor product and process quality from incoming material to final dispatch.
• Plan and conduct internal and supplier quality audits, ensuring timely closure of findings.
• Coordinate corrective actions (CAPA) and 8D/RCA reports with stakeholders.
• Lead QA team, supervise engineers and inspectors, and drive training.
• Prepare quality metrics, reports and present improvement plans to management.
• Support R&D/new product development with quality requirements and validation.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Quality Management

• Develop, implement and maintain the companys Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, customer requirements and internal procedures.
• Monitor product and process quality from incoming material to final dispatch.
• Establish quality objectives, KPIs and improvement plans.

2. Documentation & Quality Systems

• Prepare and maintain quality-related documents, procedures, work instructions and formats.
• Control inspection standards, quality plans, check sheets and process documentation.
• Maintain records related to inspection, testing, rejection, rework and corrective actions.
• Review and update quality documentation as required.

3. Incoming, In-Process & Final Inspection

• Supervise incoming material inspection and supplier quality checks.
• Ensure proper inspection at various stages of production.
• Monitor final inspection and testing before dispatch.
• Ensure measuring instruments and testing equipment are properly calibrated.

4. Customer Complaints & Corrective Actions

• Handle customer complaints and coordinate root-cause analysis.
• Implement CAPA Corrective and Preventive Actions.
• Prepare 8D reports, RCA reports and other customer-required quality reports.
• Track corrective actions until effective closure.

5. Supplier Quality Management

• Evaluate and monitor supplier quality performance.
• Conduct supplier audits where required.
• Coordinate corrective actions for supplier-related quality issues.
• Work with Purchase and Production teams to improve incoming material quality.

6. Internal & External Audits

• Plan and conduct internal quality audits.
• Coordinate customer, certification and third-party audits.
• Ensure timely closure of audit observations and non-conformities.
• Maintain audit records and compliance documentation.

7. Process & Product Improvement

• Identify recurring quality problems and implement preventive measures.
• Use 7 QC tools, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, 5 Why, FMEA, SPC, MSA and other quality techniques.
• Reduce rejection, rework, scrap and customer complaints.
• Work with Production, R&D and Engineering teams on process improvements.

8. R&D / New Product Quality

• Coordinate quality requirements during new product development.
• Review drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Support prototype and validation testing.
• Ensure quality requirements are incorporated before mass production.

9. Team Management

• Lead and supervise Quality Engineers, Inspectors and other quality personnel.
• Allocate inspection responsibilities and monitor performance.
• Train employees on quality procedures and standards.
• Develop the technical and problem-solving capabilities of the quality team.

10. MIS & Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly/weekly quality reports for management.
• Monitor KPIs such as:
• Rejection %
• Rework %
• Scrap %
• Customer complaints
• Supplier rejection
• PPM
• Cost of poor quality
• Audit non-conformities
• Present quality performance and improvement plans to management.

Preferred candidate profile

For a Deputy Manager Quality, I would preferably look for:

• 7–10 years of experience
• Engineering/technical qualification
• Manufacturing/Hydraulic Valve/automobile/engineering industry experience
• Strong knowledge of QMS and quality documentation
• Experience with internal/customer audits
• Experience handling customer complaints
• Exposure to R&D / new product development
• Good knowledge of drawings, specifications and inspection methods
• ERP/SAP knowledge is an advantage
• Strong team-management and communication skills
