The Head of Quality is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality assurance and control systems to ensure products meet industry standards, customer expectations, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of quality management in the machine tools industry and a strong ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Job responsibilities/description:
Quality Management System (QMS):
- Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 or equivalent QMS standards.
- Establish and ensure adherence to quality policies, processes, and procedures across the organization.
Product Quality Assurance:
- Define and monitor product quality standards, ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks.
- Lead quality audits and certifications for product compliance with relevant standards.
- Oversee first article inspections, in-process quality checks, and final product inspections.
Supplier Quality Management:
- Assess and qualify suppliers, ensuring raw materials and components meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to address supplier quality issues.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Analyze customer feedback and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address concerns.
- Lead the resolution of customer complaints, ensuring root cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
- Build, train, and mentor a high-performing quality team.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM) to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
- Analyze quality metrics to identify trends and implement improvement strategies.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all quality and safety standards meet local and international regulations.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes, adapting practices accordingly.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure quality considerations are integral to new product development and production processes.
- Partner with engineering teams to resolve design and process issues impacting quality.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Expertise in implementing and managing ISO 9001 or equivalent standards.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems for quality management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and inspire teams.
