Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

Morcom manufactures and assembles induction cooktops at Harsana Kalan, Sonipat, and supplies finished goods and CKD/SKD kits to brand owners who put their own name on the carton. That business model has one consequence that defines this role: every unit that leaves our gate carries somebody else's brand and our BIS registration. A single unsafe or non-functional piece in the field is not a return — it is a customer relationship, a registration and a reputation at risk. This role is the product gate. The Quality Engineer – Plant owns quality on the material and on the product itself: what comes in from suppliers, what happens on the line, and what is allowed into a carton. Nothing untested reaches packing, nothing unrecorded reaches a customer, and no lot moves on a verbal clearance. The seat is deliberately placed outside the production reporting line so that the person holding it can say no to a dispatch and have that no stand.

THE STARTING POINT — WHAT YOU ARE WALKING INTO

The candidate should know exactly what they are joining, because it decides whether they are the right person. Morcom does not yet hold an ISO 9001 certificate. There is no controlled document set, no calibration register and no formal internal audit history. Quality on the line today is held largely by experienced people and by habit rather than by written standards, sampling plans and signed records. Our BIS CRS registration for induction cooktops is live and must be protected without exception. A separate Manager – QMS seat owns building the ISO 9001 system and taking Morcom through certification. This role is not that seat and is not expected to certify the company. This role is the hands on the product: it builds and runs the day-to-day inspection and testing regime that the system will later be wrapped around, and it supplies the records the auditor will eventually ask to see. If a candidate wants a documentation desk, this is the wrong job. If a candidate wants to own a line's quality outright and build the formats from a blank sheet, it is the right one.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC) — Stop Bad Material at the Gate Inspect before it is issued: Inspect every incoming lot of bought-out material against a written incoming standard before stores issues it to the line — PCBs and populated PCBAs, IGBTs and power devices, work coils and litz wire, thermistors and sensors, fans, ceramic glass tops, wiring harnesses, connectors, power cords, plastic housings, packing and printed matter. Sampling, not guesswork: Build and apply a written sampling plan per item class using AQL principles (IS 2500 / ISO 2859-1) with defined critical, major and minor defect classes and stated accept/reject numbers. Move an item to one-hundred-per-cent screening when its history justifies it, and record why. Verify to specification: Check dimensions, ratings, markings, part numbers and material against the approved drawing, specification or golden sample — not against memory and not against 'what came last time'. Decide and record: Accept, reject or accept-under-deviation with written authority. Every lot gets an incoming inspection record with lot quantity, sample size, defects found and the decision, signed and dated. Hold what fails: Physically segregate and tag rejected material, raise a supplier non-conformance, and ensure nothing rejected can be issued to the line by mistake.

  2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) — Catch It on the Line, Not in the Carton First-piece approval: Approve the first piece after every model changeover, tool change, shift start or process adjustment, and record the approval before the run is allowed to continue. Patrol the stages: Run defined patrol inspections at the stages that matter — coil winding and coil insulation, PCB assembly and soldering, heat-sink and thermal-paste application, wiring and crimping, earth bonding, glass-top fitting and final assembly — at a stated frequency, with readings written dow
