Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

The Quality Inspector is Morcom's gate against defects — checking incoming components, patrolling the induction-cooktop assembly line, and clearing finished units against test and workmanship standards before they ship. The role protects the customer and the brand by catching problems early: verifying material against drawings and specifications, running functional / high-voltage (hi-pot) / load and earth-continuity tests, recording results honestly, raising rejections and non-conformances, and giving the line and suppliers fast, factual quality feedback. It is a hands‑on, shop‑floor role where accuracy, discipline and integrity matter more than speed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Inspect components: Check PCB / PCBA, coils, IGBT / power modules, glass tops, wiring harness, plastics and cartons against drawings, specifications and the approved sample. Sampling & disposition: Draw samples per the sampling plan (AQL / IS 2500), accept / reject / segregate lots, and tag material clearly (OK / HOLD / REJECT). Supplier feedback: Record incoming defects and share fast, factual feedback with Purchase / supplier quality.
  2. In-Process / Patrol Inspection Line checks: Run station-wise and first‑piece checks across the line (SMT / soldering, coil, power module, wiring, glass‑top assembly) and confirm operators follow the work instructions. Catch early: Identify defects at source, stop suspect production, and prevent defects from moving down the line.
  3. Final / Outgoing Quality Functional & safety testing: Perform functional test, high‑voltage (hi-pot / dielectric) test, load test and earth‑continuity check on finished cooktops per the test plan. Pre‑dispatch: Verify workmanship, labelling, accessories and packing before a unit is cleared for dispatch.
  4. Measurement, Instruments & Calibration Instruments: Use vernier, micrometer, multimeter, gauges and test jigs correctly; read drawings and specifications. Calibration: Use only calibrated instruments; flag due / out‑of‑calibration equipment.
  5. Documentation, Rejection & Non‑Conformance Records: Fill inspection reports, checklists and test records accurately and legibly. NCR / MRB: Raise non‑conformance reports and rejection tags; support the Material Review Board on disposition (use‑as‑is / rework / reject / return‑to‑vendor). Traceability: Maintain lot / batch traceability and clean, audit‑ready records.
  6. Continuous Improvement & Coordination RCA support: Support root‑cause analysis (5‑Why / fishbone), CAPA and defect‑reduction with the QA engineer. Coordination & 5S: Work with Production, Stores and Purchase on quality issues; maintain 5S and discipline in the inspection area.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Inspection: Incoming, in‑process and final inspection on a manufacturing line.
  • Testing: Functional, hi‑pot / dielectric, load and earth‑continuity testing of electrical products (trainable on induction specifics).
  • Instruments: Vernier, micrometer, multimeter, gauges and test jigs; reading drawings and specifications.
  • Standards & sampling: AQL / sampling plans, ISO 9001 records, IPC‑A‑610 workmanship awareness (a plus).
  • Documentation: Inspection reports, NCR / MRB, rejection tags and traceability.
  • Quality tools: 5‑Why, fishbone, Pareto and CAPA basics; 5S.
  • Communication: Fluent Hindi and working English; honest, factual reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

ITI / Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Production) or B.Sc; 12th with strong QC experience acceptable. 2-4 years in quality inspection (incoming / in‑process / final) in a manufacturing plant. Electronics / home‑appliance / SMPS / power‑electronics / auto‑component quality exposure preferred (transferable inspection experience accepted — the product is trainable).

GOOD TO HAVE
  • Exposure to hi‑pot / functional / load testing of electrical or electronic products.
  • IPC‑A‑610 workmanship, ISO 9001 / internal‑audit exposure, or a QC / NDT certification.
