Karban Envirotech Private Limited ·1 month ago
Karban Envirotech Pvt Ltd is an emerging hardware-tech startup, four years in the making, building its first product portfolio in Home Appliances. We are a lean, ambitious team at an exciting stage of growth - transitioning from early-stage operations to structured and scalable processes. Our flagship product, Airzone , is a 3-in-1 bladeless fan, air purifier, and LED light.
Role Overview
The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for managing quality across the complete manufacturing process - from incoming materials to in-process production and final product inspection.
The role will ensure that quality standards are clearly defined, followed, documented, and continuously improved across the shop floor.
Given our current stage and scale, this role requires both hands-on quality execution and the ability to build QC systems and processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
- Define acceptance criteria for incoming materials, including dimensions, finish, electrical parameters, and packaging.
- Inspect incoming batches and take appropriate decisions to clear, hold, or reject materials.
- Raise NCRs and maintain proper lot traceability.
- Track vendor corrective actions and share defect trends with the Purchase Engineer.
2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
- Map the Airzone assembly process and identify critical quality control points.
- Define station-wise quality checksheets.
- Conduct regular line audits and intervene when products are out of specification.
- Track the top defect sources on a weekly basis.
- Implement poka-yoke solutions at high-frequency defect stations.
3. Final Quality Control (FQC) & Outgoing Inspection
- Define final inspection procedures covering functional testing, cosmetic checks, packaging, and labelling.
- Ensure that no unit is dispatched without FQC clearance.
- Maintain proper ERP quality records.
- Track and maintain the First Pass Yield (FPY).
4. Customer Complaints & Feedback
- Classify customer complaints based on defect type, batch, and source.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) within 72 hours of escalation.
- Track Complaints Per 100 units (CPM).
- Ensure customer feedback is communicated back to the production floor for corrective action.
5. QC Systems & Documentation
- Build and maintain a QC Plan covering IQC, IPQC, and FQC.
- Develop simple and practical SOPs that trained employees can follow.
- Maintain complete material-to-dispatch traceability.
- Prepare and submit weekly quality reports to the Head of Operations.
6. Quality Culture on the Shop Floor
- Train production teams on defect awareness and self-inspection at each workstation.
- Conduct monthly quality awareness sessions.
- Track the defect detection rate of the production team.
- Promote a strong quality-focused culture across the shop floor.
