Job summary

Absolutelabs is seeking a QA Tester in Hyderabad to design and execute comprehensive test plans, cases and scripts across web and enterprise applications. You will perform functional, regression, UAT and exploratory testing, validate REST APIs with Postman, and verify SQL data consistency.

• API testing with Postman and SQL validation.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements to design test scenarios, cases and plans.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, system and UAT testing.
• Perform exploratory testing to find edge cases and usability issues.
• Log, track and close defects through full lifecycle using a tracking tool (e.g., JIRA).
• Validate REST APIs and backend responses via Postman; check requests, responses and status codes.
• SQL checks for backend validation against relational databases.
• Maintain RTM for test coverage.
• Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing where applicable.
• Support UAT and production release validation with stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute QA input in grooming.
• Prepare and maintain test documentation: plans, cases, summary and defect reports.
• Collaborate with developers to reproduce, troubleshoot and verify fixes.
• Contribute to QA process improvements and checklists.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse business and functional requirements to design comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.

• Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, system, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across web and enterprise applications.

• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues not covered by scripted test cases.
• Log, track, and manage defects through their full lifecycle identification, triage, retesting, and closure - using a defect tracking tool (e.g., JIRA).

• Validate REST APIs and backend responses using tools such as Postman, including request/response and status-code checks.

• Perform basic backend and data validation using SQL queries against relational databases.
• Maintain and update the Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure full test coverage.
• Conduct cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing where applicable.
• Support UAT cycles and production release validation, coordinating with business stakeholders.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies - sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives - and provide QA input during grooming.

• Prepare and maintain clear test documentation: test plans, test cases, test summary reports, and defect reports.

• Collaborate with developers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and verify the resolution of reported defects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, checklists, and testing standards.

Required Skill & Qualification:

• 4+ of hands-on experience in manual/functional software testing.
• Strong understanding of STLC, SDLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Proven experience writing clear, thorough test scenarios, test cases, and test plans from requirements/user stories.

• Hands-on experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar.

• Working knowledge of API testing using Postman (request construction, response/status validation, basic assertions).

• Working knowledge of SQL for backend/data validation.
• Solid grasp of different testing types: functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, UAT, and exploratory testing.

• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and defect-reporting clarity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with developers, BAs, and product owners.
