Job summary

Testrig in Pune invites a dedicated Manual QA Tester to join our quality engineering team. You will understand requirements, design test cases, execute tests, and report defects to ensure software quality.

This role is ideal for someone early in your QA career who wants to build strong foundations in QA practices. You will analyse requirements, perform manual functional, regression, smoke, and UI testing, and collaborate closely with developers and business analysts to clarify needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years hands-on experience in manual/functional testing.

Responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements and user stories to prepare test scenarios and test cases.
• Execute manual test cases (functional, regression, smoke, UI/UX).
• Log, track, and retest defects using bug-tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Perform basic API testing using tools like Postman.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and test case review sessions.
• Prepare and share test execution summaries and status reports.
• Work closely with developers and business analysts to clarify requirements.
• Create and maintain test data for various test scenarios.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and post-release verification.

About the Role

We are looking for a Manual QA Tester to join our quality engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for understanding requirements, designing test cases, executing tests, and reporting defects to ensure the quality of our software products. This role is suited for candidates who are early in their testing career and want to build strong foundations in QA practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements and user stories to prepare test scenarios and test cases
• Execute manual test cases functional, regression, smoke, and UI/UX testing
• Log, track, and retest defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g. JIRA)
• Perform basic API testing using tools like Postman
• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and test case review sessions
• Prepare and share test execution summaries and status reports
• Work closely with developers and business analysts to clarify requirements
• Create and maintain test data for various test scenarios
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and post-release verification

Required Skills

• Good understanding of SDLC and STLC
• Working knowledge of test case design techniques (equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, etc.)
• Familiarity with defect lifecycle and bug-tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar)
• Basic SQL skills for data validation
• Understanding of web and/or mobile application testing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Good to Have

• Exposure to API testing (Postman or similar tools)
• Basic awareness of automation concepts (Selenium, Playwright) — not mandatory
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working
• ISTQB Foundation certification

Qualifications
