Job summary

Skills And Placement Services is seeking a Purchase Manager for a manufacturing client in Madhya Pradesh. The role centers on sourcing raw materials, vendor management, cost control, and ensuring timely material availability to keep production running smoothly.

You will plan procurement, negotiate contracts, evaluate suppliers, maintain stock levels, and coordinate with Stores, Production, Quality, and Finance.

Qualifications

• Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or relevant field; MBA in Supply Chain preferred.
• Minimum 10–20 years of purchase experience in a manufacturing company (steel/rubber/chemicals).

Responsibilities

• Source, procure and manage raw materials, consumables, spares and services.
• Plan and execute procurement to ensure timely availability for manufacturing.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and contracts for best value.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers; maintain approved vendor list.
• Maintain optimal stock levels and coordinate with Stores to prevent shortages/overstocking.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Stores and Finance for material planning.
• Ensure procurement documentation (PO, GRN, contracts) is accurate and complete.
• Oversee logistics and timely delivery of materials.

Job description

• The Purchase Manager is responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor management, cost control, and timely availability of all raw materials, consumables, spares, and services required for smooth operation of the factory.
• Plan & execute procurement of raw materials and services.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts to ensure best value procurement.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers.
• Maintain approved vendor list and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Maintain optimal stock levels to support uninterrupted production.
• Work closely with Stores to monitor inventory and avoid overstocking or shortages.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Stores, and Finance for material planning.
• Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate and complete (PO, GRN, contracts, etc.).
• Oversee logistics, transportation, and timely delivery of materials.

Required Qualifications & Work Experience:

• Education: Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or any relevant field. MBA (Supply Chain) preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 10-20 years of purchase experience in a manufacturing (steel / rubber/chemicals) company.
