Job summary

Zentron Labs in Bangalore is seeking a Production Engineer to support day-to-day manufacturing and assembly operations, implement processes, and assist production planning to ensure timely delivery with required quality.

You will coordinate with internal teams and vendors, prepare work instructions and SOPs, and drive continuous improvement in jig/fixture design, material flow, and shopfloor systems while upholding safety and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in production / assembly / manufacturing engineering in a machine building company.
• Hands-on knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and shopfloor execution.
• Experience developing and improving assembly processes and manufacturing documentation.
• Understanding of fabrication, machining, sheet metal, bought-out assemblies, and electromechanical integration.
• Familiarity with quality systems, inspection processes, and production documentation.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to work across functions.

Job description

We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our production team in Bangalore. You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day manufacturing and assembly operations, process implementation, support production planning, quality adherence. You will coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure products are built efficiently and delivered on time with the required quality.

Role & responsibilities

• Execute production and assembly activities for Hortisort products in line with production plans and delivery schedules
• Support in implementing manufacturing processes, assembly workflows, and shopfloor systems
• Prepare and maintain work instructions, SOPs, assembly procedures, and production records.
• Work on development and improvement of workstations, jigs & fixtures, tools, and material flow to improve
• productivity and ergonomics.
• Adherence to defined quality processes during assembly and testing activities.
• Coordinate with stores, supply chain, quality, and engineering teams to ensure timely availability of materials
• and smooth execution of production activities.
• Track daily production progress and highlight issues related to quality, material shortages, manpower, or delays.
• Support production scheduling, and capacity planning activities to achieve output targets.
• Ensure proper implementation of Process-Driven Manufacturing Systems on the shop floor.
• Monitor and improve assembly efficiency, rework levels, and production cycle time.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for production and quality issues.
• Coordinate with vendors for part readiness, quality issues, and delivery follow-up as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices, 5S standards, and shopfloor discipline.
• Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives in the assembly center.
• Maintain production-related MIS, reports, and KPI data for review
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth new product introduction, engineering changes, and process updates in manufacturing.
• BOM Management: Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity, ensuring specific Manufacturer Part
• Numbers (MPN) are locked and not substituted by vendors without engineering approval.
• Inventory & Safety Stock: Define safety stock levels for critical long-lead components(semiconductors) to mitigate global supply chain risks and seasonal demand spikes.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proven experience in production / assembly / manufacturing engineering in a machine building company,
• preferably SPM build companies.
• Hands-on knowledge of mechanical assembly processes, production planning, and shopfloor execution.
• Experience in developing and improving assembly processes, work instructions, jigs & fixtures, and manufacturing documentation.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, machining, sheet metal, bought-out assemblies, and electromechanical integration.
• Familiarity with quality systems, inspection processes, and production documentation.
• Experience in planning and tracking production activities and meeting delivery timelines.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good coordination and communication skills with ability to work across functions.
• Strong execution focus with ability to work in a fast-paced startup / MSME environment.
• Team player with ability to work in a matrix organization structure.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices will be desirable.
• Ability to take ownership of day-to-day production challenges and drive closure with internal and external stakeholders.
