Job summary

Rockman in Tirupati seeks a senior tool/ die design professional to lead die development, guide CAD reviews, and drive improvements in tooling through cross-functional collaboration with Central Design Team. The role emphasizes compliance with TS standards and proactive maintenance of die designs.

The incumbent will mentor subordinates, oversee training, and coordinate with Tool Room and Die Maintenance teams to ensure on-time production readiness and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support production teams to timely development of dies with cooperation of Tool Room.
• Resolve queries raised by Tool Manufacturing Team regarding die design & specifications
• Provide insights for analyzing die breakdowns to support Die Maintenance Team in efficient resolution of breakdowns
• Guide team in design of dies, tools, fixtures etc. as per specifications provided by the Central Design Team.
• Identify opportunities for introducing improvements in die designs; lead coordination with Central Design Team for approval on simulations etc.
• Review CAD Models and 2D drawings prepared by team members, provide technical expertise for development and ensure corrections in case of issues
• New product development Documentations (PPAP, APQP, PQCS, FMEA, SPC, Customer Standard and testing procedure).
• Monitor spares planning and consumption and ensure adequate inventory
• Manage trials of new/ modified dies in line with defined quality standards; Coordinate for approvals and handover to Tool Manufacturing, Provide CNC Jigs and fixture, gauges as per product design.
• Ensure systematic maintenance of all die designs, modifications, approvals etc. as per TS requirements
• Adhere to all statutory requirements in the tool room operations and compliance of all regulatory requirements and standards like ISO, OHSAS, 6 Sigma and TPM
• Participate in cross functional improvement initiatives, as indicated by superiors (such as Quality circles, Kaizens, TPM etc.)
• Ensure timely completion of all stages of Performance Appraisal Process
• Provide necessary leadership and guidance to employees to improve their performance
• Identify training needs of the subordinates, nominate them for appropriate training and developmental programs
• Take up grievances of subordinates that reach through proper channels and takes appropriate action accordingly in consultation with Head of Tool Room
