Job summary

Canis Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead end-to-end sourcing for interior design and turnkey projects in Chennai. You will develop plans, coordinate with architects and project managers, and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely material availability and cost control.

The role requires strong MS Excel and ERP skills, robust negotiation capabilities, and the ability to manage budgets across multiple projects with stakeholder coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; interior fit-out/procurement exposure preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in Procurement/Purchase/Sourcing.
• Experience in Interior Design / Fit-out / Construction projects is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of materials, furniture, fixtures, finishes and furnishings.
• Excellent vendor development, management and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/procurement systems.

Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

1. Procurement Planning

• Develop procurement plans based on project schedules, budgets, and design specifications.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, and project managers to understand material and product requirements.
• Ensure procurement timelines are aligned with project milestones.

2. Vendor & Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Source materials, furniture, fixtures, finishes, and furnishings.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance.

3. Cost Control & Budget Management

• Track and manage procurement budgets for each project.
• Monitor market prices, trends, and alternative materials.
• Provide cost estimates and comparisons for cost-effective sourcing.

4. Quality Assurance

• Ensure procured items meet approved quality, specifications, and design standards.
• Coordinate sample approvals with designers and clients.
• Handle replacements or reorders for defective or mismatched materials.

5. Logistics & Delivery Coordination

• Plan and coordinate material deliveries to project sites or warehouses.
• Coordinate delivery timelines with project managers.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage reorders.

6. Contract & Documentation Management

• Prepare and review purchase orders, contracts, and procurement agreements.
• Maintain records of procurement transactions, invoices, and warranties.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and requirements.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with design, project management, finance, and site teams.
• Provide regular procurement updates, timelines, and cost summaries.
• Participate in project meetings to align procurement activities.

8. Risk Management

• Identify supply-chain disruptions and price fluctuation risks.
• Develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Maintain alternate vendors for critical and long-lead materials.

Preferred candidate profile

• Any Graduate.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Procurement / Purchase / Sourcing.
• Experience in Interior Design / Interior Fit-out / Architecture / Construction / Turnkey Projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of materials, furniture, fixtures, finishes and furnishings.
• Excellent vendor development, management and negotiation skills.
• Experience in procurement planning, cost control and project-based procurement.
• Strong knowledge of POs, contracts, vendor documentation and material delivery coordination.
• Experience in managing procurement budgets and ensuring timely material availability.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/procurement systems.
• Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Candidates with strong Interior/Fit-out procurement experience will be preferred.
