Job Title: Procurement Manager- Solar Energy Sector.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Procurement Manager to lead the sourcing and procurement of solar components. The role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials for solar projects. The ideal candidate will have strong connections with OEMs for solar modules, inverters, mounting structures, and BoS materials, and a deep understanding of solar procurement processes and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project and organizational goals.
- Prepare and review Bills of Materials (BOM) for project-specific procurement.
- Forecast material requirements in coordination with project and design teams.
- Ensure procurement timelines align with project schedules and milestones.
Vendor & OEM Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified vendors and OEM partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers for modules, inverters, and structures.
- Conduct supplier performance assessments and ensure adherence to quality and delivery commitments.
- Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and payment conditions to optimize cost and quality.
Procurement Execution
- Oversee end-to-end procurement activities including RFQs, bid evaluation, and purchase order issuance.
- Monitor procurement progress and coordinate with logistics and site teams for delivery tracking.
- Review and verify vendor documentation, technical datasheets, and compliance certificates.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all procurement transactions, agreements, and correspondence.
Cost Control & Compliance
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier competitiveness to support cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and statutory guidelines.
- Collaborate with finance and project departments to manage budgetary control and invoice verification.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical / Energy Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the solar or renewable energy industry.
- Strong OEM network and proven experience in sourcing solar modules, inverters, and BoS materials.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office tools.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in procurement for rooftop, ground-mounted, and off-grid solar projects.
- Understanding of MNRE/DISCOM regulations and solar project standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and vendors simultaneously with attention to detail.
