Job summary

V-Guard is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to translate industrial design concepts into detailed engineering designs for plastic and metal cabinet parts. You will develop prototypes, evaluate performance, and support R&D and tooling activities across product development stages.

Responsibilities include sheet metal and plastic component design for production readiness, CAD drawing preparation, BOM management, and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience in product design and development of plastic and sheet metal components.
• Experience in manufacturing or product development environments is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Derive detailed engineering designs for plastic and metal cabinet parts from industrial design (ID) concepts.
• Develop prototypes, evaluate performance, and support R&D and tooling activities across different stages of product development.
• Design and develop sheet metal and plastic components for production readiness.
• Perform engineering modelling and CAD drawing preparation, including PLM documentation.
• Coordinate with external vendors for prototyping, tooling, and development activities.
• Prepare and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for products.
• Design and development of product lighting and assemblies
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution during all development phases.
• Willing to take responsibility to travel for mould trail, FPA and product integration and validation

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of Plastic injection mould design and construction.
• Familiarity with injection moulding processing parameters.
• Knowledge of various plastic materials and their applications.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
• Proficiency in CAD modelling ( Solidworks preffered) and engineering drawings
• Good knowledge in DFMEA, DFM&A
• Good knowledge in GD&T and stack-up tolerance
• Better understanding of mould flow analysis and FEA is an added advantage
• Technical Knowledge & SkillsTC Windchill preffered) and engineering documentation practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelores degree in Mechanical Engineering / product design/ mould design /equivalent.
• Relevant experience in product design and development (plastic and sheet metal components preferred).
• Hands on Experience in manufacturing or product development environment will be an advantage
