Job summary

Adi Durga Steel in Raipur, India, is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead Operations. You will oversee manufacturing, fabrication, scheduling, and dispatch to meet project deadlines.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical/production engineering, 10+ years of plant leadership, and a proven track record in Lean practices, safety, and cost control. You will coordinate with QA/QC, design, stores, and maintenance to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plant operations or fabrication.
  • Experience in manufacturing and Lean concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Plant Operations Management: handle production, fabrication, and dispatch; plan daily to monthly production per project.
  • Production Planning & Execution: achieve targets, monitor shop floor, optimize machine and manpower utilization; coordinate with design, QA/QC, store, maintenance, and project teams.
  • Quality Management: ensure output meets quality standards; reduce rework and defects; coordinate with QC for inspections.
  • Material & Inventory Control: coordinate with store and purchase for RM availability; monitor inventory; reduce wastage.
  • Cost & Financial Control: monitor cost per ton; control labour cost and overtime; manage plant budget.
  • Team Management: lead supervisors, engineers, operators; assign work; plan shifts; manage discipline and training.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: enforce safety rules; promote safe working environment; maintain 5S.
  • Dispatch & Project Coordination: ensure timely dispatch; align production with site requirements; coordinate with project and dispatch teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: drive productivity, lean, Kaizen; identify gaps and improve performance.

Job Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations Management
  • Handle complete plant operations (production, fabrication, dispatch).
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production as per project requirements.
  • Ensure execution as per drawings, BOM, and project timelines.
  • Monitor WIP, backlog, and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Ensure smooth workflow from raw material to dispatch.
2. Production Planning & Execution
  • Ensure production targets are achieved on time.
  • Monitor shop floor performance and resolve issues quickly.
  • Optimize machine and manpower utilization.
  • Coordinate with Design, QA/QC, Store, Maintenance, and Project teams.
3. Quality Management
  • Ensure all output meets quality standards.
  • Reduce rejection, rework, and defects.
  • Coordinate with QC for inspection and approvals.
  • Implement corrective actions for quality issues.
4. Material & Inventory Control
  • Coordinate with Store and Purchase for RM availability.
  • Control material usage and reduce wastage/scrap.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure proper consumption control.
5. Cost & Financial Control
  • Monitor cost per ton (Cost/MT).
  • Control labour cost, overtime, and operational expenses.
  • Improve productivity and reduce unnecessary cost.
  • Manage plant budget (OPEX / CAPEX).
6. Team Management
  • Lead production supervisors, engineers, operators, and staff.
  • Assign work and monitor performance.
  • Manage shift planning and manpower utilization.
  • Handle discipline, engagement, and training of team.
7. Safety & Housekeeping
  • Ensure safety rules are strictly followed on shop floor.
  • Promote safe working environment and accident prevention.
  • Maintain 5S and cleanliness in plant areas.
8. Dispatch & Project Coordination
  • Ensure timely dispatch as per site/project requirement.
  • Coordinate with Project and Dispatch teams for delivery planning.
  • Ensure alignment between production and site needs.
9. Continuous Improvement
  • Improve productivity, reduce wastage, and optimize processes.
  • Implement Lean, Kaizen, and process improvement activities.
