Job summary

Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies in India seeks a skilled Production Planner for Li-ion battery pack manufacturing. You will run end-to-end production planning, material scheduling, and capacity management to ensure on-time delivery and optimal resource use.

You’ll coordinate with Purchases, Stores, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to align plans with demand. Strong knowledge of MRP, BOM management, and SAP is required.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience in Li-ion battery pack manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and SAP for planning and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce daily/weekly/monthly production plans for cell grading, module assembly, pack assembly, and testing.
  • Plan based on orders, capacity, and material readiness.
  • Monitor plan vs. actual output; drive corrective actions.
  • Budget preparation and follow ups.
  • MRP management and BOM review.
  • Create detailed daily schedules; evaluate line capacity and loading.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and MIS reporting; SAP usage.

Job description

Job Purpose

To execute end-to-end production planning, material scheduling, and capacity management for Li-ion battery pack manufacturing lines, ensuring on-time delivery, optimized utilization of resources, and smooth coordination across departments and ensure MoM and QoQ Revenues.


Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning Li-ion Battery Packs

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production plans for cell grading, module assembly, pack assembly, and final testing.
  • Plan based on customer orders, capacity availability, and material readiness.
  • Monitor plan vs. actual output, identify gaps, and drive timely corrective action.

2. Budget Preparation and follow ups

3. Material Requirement Planning (MRP)

  • Review BOM for Li-ion battery packs (cells, BMS, PCBs, casings, harness, busbars, fasteners, insulation materials, etc.).
  • Calculate material requirements based on production plans and lead times.
  • Track material shortages and coordinate with SCM for timely procurement.
  • Maintain critical components status (cells, BMS, casings, PCM/PCB, connectors).

4. Scheduling & Capacity Management

  • Create detailed daily schedules for each manufacturing stage:
  • Evaluate line capacity, manpower availability, and machine loading.
  • Identify bottlenecks and support throughput improvement initiatives.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, SCM, Engineering, and PPC.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO) impacting planning.
  • Communicate delivery schedules to sales/customer teams.

6. Data Management & MIS Reporting

  • Maintain real-time WIP visibility across all stages.
  • Prepare daily/weekly MIS reports (output, shortages, plan vs actual, yield trends).
  • Track production efficiency, downtime, and cycle time metrics.

7. SAP & Process Improvements

  • Use SAP/planning tools for scheduling, WIP tracking, and material allocation.
  • Support development and standardization of planning processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Kaizen, and 5S.

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Li-ion battery pack manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience in production planning, scheduling, and MRP.
  • Good understanding of BOM management and material lead-time planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and SAP
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education Qualification
  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering.

Preferred (Added Advantage)
  • Understanding of cell chemistry (LFP/NMC), cell grading norms, and pack testing procedures.
  • Exposure to safety standards for Li-ion battery manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or basic quality tools.
