Olectra Greentech in Hyderabad is hiring an Assistant General Manager, Battery Pack Engineering to lead the end-to-end development of HV Li-ion battery packs for automotive applications, from architecture through SOP and field support.

You will own pack-level design across mechanical, thermal, electrical domains, drive validation, and build a high-performing team while ensuring compliance with AIS-156, UN R100, UN 38.3 and ISO 26262.

Assistant General Manager_ Battery Pack Engineering

Function: Battery Engineering | Experience: 12+ years | Location: Hyderabad | Reports to: Vice President Battery Systems & Engineering

Role Overview

Lead the Battery Pack Engineering division responsible for end-to-end development of HV Li-ion battery packs for automotive applications, from architecture and concept through detailed design, validation, SOP and field support. Own technical delivery across mechanical, thermal, electrical and pack system engineering, while building a strong multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end HV battery pack development from concept architecture to production release and SOP.
  • Define pack architecture covering cell/module integration, enclosure, HV/LV distribution, busbars, contactors, fuses, HVIL, BMS interfaces, cooling and vehicle interfaces.
  • Lead mechanical design of enclosures, modules, structural components, mounts, sealing, IP protection, crash/load requirements, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA and serviceability.
  • Lead thermal design including cooling architecture, thermal interfaces, heat rejection, fast-charge/high-load thermal performance and thermal runaway propagation mitigation.
  • Lead electrical/HV design including HV distribution, busbars, contactors, pre-charge, fusing, connectors, isolation, HVIL and electrical safety.
  • Drive system integration with BMS, cell technology, vehicle, charging, power electronics and thermal management teams.
  • Own pack-level requirements, design standards, DFMEA, validation strategy and technical design reviews.
  • Lead engineering validation covering electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental, vibration, durability, abuse, safety and vehicle-level testing.
  • Drive CAE/simulation activities across structural, crash, thermal/CFD, vibration and fatigue domains.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable automotive/HV battery regulations and standards, including AIS-156, UN R100, UN 38.3 and ISO 26262.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and suppliers to deliver DFM/DFA, cost, quality, manufacturability and production readiness.
  • Lead technical engagement with cell, module and component suppliers and drive resolution of critical engineering issues.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical and Pack Integration engineering team; establish design standards, processes and reusable architectures.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Mechatronics or related engineering.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in HV Li-ion battery pack engineering, with significant automotive/EV experience.
  • Proven track record of taking battery packs from concept to production/SOP.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in mechanical, thermal and electrical pack design.
  • Deep understanding of Li-ion cells/modules, BMS, HV architecture, contactors, fuses, pre-charge, HVIL, busbars and isolation monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of battery safety, thermal runaway, propagation prevention, crashworthiness, sealing/IP protection, vibration and durability.
  • Experience with FEA/CFD/thermal simulation, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA and automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of APQP, DFMEA, validation planning, root-cause analysis and engineering change management.
