Job summary

Invisel in Pune, Maharashtra, is seeking a Paint Technologist to join its R&D and Product Development team. The role covers developing functional coating formulations, lab trials, prototype batches and scale-up support for nano-coatings and acrylic/PU/epoxy systems.

You will evaluate antibacterial, self-cleaning and water-repellent properties, maintain records, ensure safety, and collaborate with suppliers and production teams to bring innovative coatings to market.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in the paint or coatings industry, preferably in R&D, formulation development, technical or quality roles.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory trials, formulation development and batch preparation.
• Working knowledge of acrylic, PU or epoxy coating systems.
• Understanding of resins, additives, pigments, fillers and their impact on coating performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve functional coating formulations using suitable resins, additives, pigments and other raw materials.
• Research and evaluate new coating technologies, functional additives and raw material suppliers.
• Conduct laboratory trials, prepare trial batches and develop product prototypes.
• Work with acrylic, PU, epoxy and other coating systems.
• Test coating performance, including adhesion, hardness, durability, stability and appearance.
• Evaluate functional properties such as antibacterial, self-cleaning and water-repellent performance.
• Check additive compatibility, dispersion and formulation stability.
• Support pilot batches, production scale-up and quality checks.
• Maintain formulation records, testing reports and product development documentation.

Role Description – Paint Technologist

We are looking for a Paint Technologist to join our R&D and Product Development team in Pune. The candidate will be responsible for developing and improving functional coating products, from initial concepts and raw material sourcing to laboratory trials, prototyping, testing and production support.

The role involves working with thin-film and nano-coatings, acrylic paints, polyurethane (PU) and epoxy coating systems. The candidate will also explore functional additives to develop specialised coatings with antibacterial, self-cleaning, anti-insect and other performance-enhancing properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and improve functional coating formulations using suitable resins, additives, pigments and other raw materials.

Qualifications We Need

• B.Tech / BE in Paint Technology, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• BSc / MSc in Chemistry or a relevant technical discipline will also be considered.
• 1-2 years of experience in the paint or coatings industry, preferably in R&D, formulation development, technical or quality roles.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory trials, formulation development and batch preparation.
• Working knowledge of acrylic, PU or epoxy coating systems.
• Understanding of resins, additives, pigments, fillers and their impact on coating performance.
• Familiarity with paint testing methods and quality parameters.
• Knowledge of coating properties such as adhesion, hardness, viscosity, drying time and durability.
• Good documentation and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to functional coatings or nano-coating technologies.
• Experience with antibacterial, self-cleaning, anti-insect or water-repellent additives.
• Exposure to product prototyping, testing and laboratory-to-production scale-up.
