Job summary

SMPC Industries in Tamil Nadu is seeking an experienced Packing Supervisor to oversee packing of processed steel coils and sheets. You will manage manpower, ensure on-time packing, and enforce safety standards across the packing area.

The role requires knowledge of packing materials, documentation, and coordination with Production, Quality, Stores, and Dispatch teams. Freshers with relevant technical qualifications are welcome, and rotating shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or ITI or any degree required.
• 0–3 years of experience in manufacturing or sheet metal processing; freshers with relevant qualifications encouraged.
• Willing to work in rotational shifts.
• Good understanding of packing processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily packing activities as per customer and product-specific requirements.
• Plan and allocate manpower to ensure packing is completed on time.
• Ensure correct packing materials are used as per customer requirements and packing standards.
• Monitor the quality of packing, including protection, strapping, wrapping, labeling, and identification.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores, and Dispatch teams for smooth material flow.
• Ensure finished coils and sheets are properly identified and ready for dispatch.
• Monitor packing material consumption and minimize unnecessary wastage.
• Maintain proper records of packing activities and material consumption.
• Ensure safe handling of coils, bundles, pallets, and packing materials.
• Train and guide packing workers on proper packing methods and safety procedures.
• Maintain 5S, housekeeping, and safety standards in the packing area.
• Identify packing-related issues and take corrective action promptly.
• Ensure packing is completed according to customer specifications and company SOPs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve packing productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

• Education: Diploma / ITI / Any Degree.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal processing industry (Freshers with relevant technical qualifications are also encouraged to apply).

Skills:

• Good knowledge of packing materials, strapping, wrapping, pallets, and material handling.
• Good manpower management and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under production pressure and meet dispatch deadlines.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of production/dispatch documentation.
• Must be willing to work in rotational shifts.
