Job summary

Metalex Steel Strips is seeking an experienced Dispatch & Packing Operator to manage packing, labeling, and shipment documentation for finished coils and sheets. You will oversee FIFO, loading plans, and ensure traceability with heat and coil numbers.

You will coordinate with PPC, Stores, Production, and Sales to prioritize orders, maintain packing materials, and ensure ISO-compliant records and safe dispatch practices. Proactive communication and accuracy in documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or graduate in any discipline with experience in steel processing.
• Experience in coil service centers or steel processing preferred.
• Experience in packing, dispatch, and inventory control is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise packing and dispatch activities for coils and finished materials.
• Prepare packing lists, dispatch labels, and shipment documentation.
• Coordinate loading and ensure safe vehicle dispatch.
• Ensure traceability with heat numbers, coil numbers, and labels.
• Maintain inward/outward material records and stock movement reports.

Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for handling dispatch operations of finished steel slitted coils, sheets, and processed materials including packing, labeling, dispatch documentation, inward tracking, inventory coordination, and vehicle dispatch planning to ensure safe and timely delivery to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch & Packing Operations

Supervise packing and dispatch activities for slitted coils, sheets, blanks, and finished materials.

Ensure proper packing of steel coils and sheets using wrapping, strapping, edge protectors, wooden pallets, and protective materials as per customer requirements.

Monitor coil wrapping activities using HDPE/VCI/stretch film/protective paper as applicable.

Ensure proper steel strapping and securing of materials to avoid transit damage.

Verify packing quality before dispatch.

Ensure correct customer labels, identification tags, heat numbers, coil numbers, and traceability details are attached to each material.

Prepare packing lists, dispatch labels, and shipment documentation.

Coordinate loading activities and ensure safe loading practices during vehicle dispatch.

Verify dispatched quantity, weight, and dimensions with delivery challan and customer PO requirements.

Maintain FIFO system during dispatch and material movement.

Documentation & System Handling

Prepare dispatch documents such as:

Delivery Challan (DC)

Packing List

Invoice coordination

E-Way Bill coordination

Transport documents

Material Test Certificate coordination

Maintain inward and outward material records in ERP/SAP/manual registers.

Update dispatch status, vehicle details, and shipment tracking records.

Maintain GRN (Goods Receipt Note) records for inward materials.

Prepare daily dispatch reports, pending dispatch reports, and stock movement reports.

Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all incoming and outgoing coils.

Inward Material Handling

Monitor inward coil receipt activities from suppliers and customers.

Verify incoming coil details such as:

Coil number

Heat number

Thickness

Width

Weight

Grade

Surface condition

Coordinate unloading and inward inspection activities.

Maintain inward coil tracking system and stock location records.

Ensure proper identification and storage of inward materials.

Coordinate with QC team for inward material verification and approval.

Inventory & Coordination

Coordinate with PPC, Stores, Production, and Sales teams for dispatch priorities.

Monitor finished goods stock and dispatch planning.

Ensure availability of packing materials such as:

Straps

Wrapping rolls

Labels

Wooden pallets

Edge protectors

Packing clips

Control packing material consumption and minimize wastage.

Handle customer urgent dispatches and transport coordination.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure safe material handling and loading practices using cranes, forklifts, and lifting tools.

Follow safety standards during packing, loading, and unloading operations.

Maintain housekeeping and proper material stacking in dispatch area.

Ensure compliance with ISO documentation and company procedures.
