Job Description

Nursing Staff - ICU is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and intensive medical support. The includes patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring of critical-care equipment, emergency support, clinical documentation, infection control, and coordination with intensivists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Assess and continuously monitor patient condition and vital signs.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, respiratory status, and other parameters.
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, infusions, and treatments.
  • Operate and monitor ventilators, infusions pumps, monitors, and other ICU equipment as trained.
  • Identify changes in patient condition and report abnormalities promptly.
  • Assist doctors and intensivists during critical-care procedures.
  • Support emergency response, CPR, and resuscitation activities within scope.
  • Monitor intake, output, fluid balance, and other assigned parameters.
  • Maintain accurate ICU charts, nursing notes, and clinical documentation.
  • Prepare patients for investigations and procedures.
  • Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
  • Maintain infection-control, isolation, and aseptic practices.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of ICU medicines, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participate in clinical handovers and multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Maintain ICU equipment and report faults or abnormalities.
  • Provide appropriate information and support to patients families.
  • Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in audits, training, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Follow hospital nursing SOPs, critical-care protocols, and professional standards.
