Job Description

Sr. Consultant - Critical Care is responsible for providing expert management of critically ill patients with life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. The leads intensive care services, supervises junior clinicians, coordinates multidisciplinary critical care teams, and ensures evidence-based, patient-centered treatment in the ICU.

• Diagnose and manage critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Conduct ICU consultations, emergency assessments, and critical care rounds.
• Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and organ support.
• Perform advanced critical care procedures including central venous catheterization, arterial line insertion, endotracheal intubation, and bedside ultrasound as per competency.
• Interpret laboratory reports, ABG analysis, ECGs, imaging studies, and bedside monitoring data.
• Manage sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction, trauma, and post-operative critical care.
• Lead multidisciplinary ICU care with specialists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and nursing teams.
• Supervise consultants, residents, fellows, and ICU staff.
• Counsel patients families regarding prognosis, treatment plans, and end-of-life care when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ICU records.
• Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control standards, and ethical practices.
• Participate in research, teaching, and continuing medical education.
• Support quality improvement, accreditation, and patient safety initiatives.
• Deliver advanced, evidence-based, and patient-centered critical care.
