Job summary

Suri Auto Products Dharwad is seeking a seasoned NPD Project/Program Lead to drive new-product development from customer drawings through tooling validation, sample approval, PPAP and successful production handover. You will ensure IATF 16949 compliance, meet quality standards, and manage costs and delivery targets.

The role requires extensive experience in sheet metal processes, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA and SPC, plus strong project planning and cross-functional coordination with customers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sheet metal new product development lifecycle.
• Understanding of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan and MSA/SPC practices.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T accurately.
• Experience in dimensional inspection and problem-solving methods.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings, specs, materials and manufacturability.
• Plan and monitor APQP activities, timelines and milestones.
• Coordinate dies, tools, fixtures, gauges design and development.
• Coordinate prototype development, process trials and sample inspections.
• Ensure preparation of PFMEA, Control Plans, work instructions, PPAP docs.
• Coordinate dimensional inspection and validation activities.
• Monitor changes, review, validate and seek customer approvals.
• Ensure tooling validation and production readiness for handover.
• Coordinate with Customer, Quality, Production, Purchase and Tool Room to resolve issues.
• Track performance against quality, cost, delivery and development targets and drive corrective actions.

Job description

To manage new-product development activities from customer drawing receipt through process development, tooling validation, sample approval, PPAP and successful production handover, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, IATF 16949 requirements, quality standards, cost and delivery targets.

Essential competencies:

• Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, dies, press tools, welding and fixtures.
• Understanding of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, PFD, Control Plan, MSA and SPC.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of dimensional inspection and problem-solving methods.
• Project planning, cross-functional coordination and customer communication.
• Understanding of engineering change management and production launch controls.
• Accountable for the complete development timeline and technical coordination

Key responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing customer drawings, specifications, material requirements, and manufacturing feasibility.
2. Planning and monitoring APQP activities, development timelines, and project milestones.
3. Coordinating the design, development, validation, and modification of dies, tools, fixtures, and gauges.
4. Coordinating prototype development, process trials, sample inspection, and product validation.
5. Ensuring preparation and maintenance of applicable quality documents, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, work instructions, and PPAP documentation.
6. Coordinating dimensional inspection, process capability studies, MSA, and other validation activities, as applicable.
7. Monitoring engineering changes and ensuring appropriate review, validation, documentation, and customer approval, wherever required.
8. Ensuring production readiness, including tooling validation, process controls, documentation, and coordination of production handover.
9. Coordinating with Customer, Quality, Production, Purchase, Tool Room, and other relevant departments to resolve development-related issues.
10. Monitoring project performance against quality, cost, delivery, and development targets and initiating corrective actions where necessary.

Preferred candidate profile

Any Technical degree/Diploma Candidate with sound knowledge of Sheet Metal New product Development with a minimum experience of atleast 8 years
