Job summary

Hamilton Housewares in Mumbai, India, seeks a Sheet Metal Design Engineer with 5-7 years of experience to lead design and development of consumer durables and home appliances using NX/ SolidWorks. You will drive product development from concept to production, ensure manufacturing feasibility, and optimize tooling and processes.

The role requires strong GD&T, DFM/DFA knowledge, BOM management, and documentation, with hands-on CAD and manufacturing liaison across teams.

Job description

Key responsibilities

• Strong experience in Sheet Metal Product Design and development.
• Hands-on expertise in designing sheet metal products using Unigraphics (NX), SolidWorks, or similar CAD software with proficiency in Modeling, Surfacing, Drafting, and Assembly.
• Thorough knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including bending, punching, laser cutting, welding, deep drawing, and fabrication.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal tooling, dies, fixtures, and process optimization.
• Expertise in material selection for sheet metal products such as Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Aluminium, Brass, and Copper.
• Knowledge of sheet metal defects, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Ability to create and interpret 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience in reverse engineering and value engineering of sheet metal products.
• Ability to create and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and engineering documentation.
• Good understanding of measuring instruments and quality inspection standards.
