RHIA is seeking a Mid Backend Engineer to join our Gurgaon engineering team. You will design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and data processing services that form the backbone of our unified hospitality platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Experience with Python, Node.js, or Go.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL including schema design.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Docker.
• Knowledge of data structures, design patterns, testing methodologies.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Mid Backend Engineer to join our Gurgaon engineering team. You will be a key contributor in designing, building, and maintaining the robust, scalable APIs and data processing services that form the backbone of our unified hospitality platform. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex integrations, solve challenging data synchronization problems, and directly impact how hotels around the world operate.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable and resilient backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain integrations with third‑party hospitality systems (e.g., PMS, CRM) ensuring high data fidelity and real‑time performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following engineering best practices.
• Contribute to the improvement of our codebase, infrastructure, and development processes.
• Participate in code reviews to foster knowledge sharing and uphold code quality standards.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations.
• Collaborate with team members to break down complex projects into actionable tasks.

Requirements

• Professional experience as a Backend Engineer, building and maintaining production systems.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go, Node.js).
• Proven experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) including schema design and query optimization.
• Hands‑on experience with designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Understanding of software development principles such as data structures, design patterns, and testing methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed team environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the hospitality technology sector or with related systems (PMS, CRM, etc.).
• Knowledge of message brokers and event‑driven architecture (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and related patterns.

Responsibilities:• Develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable backend services and APIs that ingest, process, and synchronize data from diverse hotel systems (e.g., Property Management Systems, Central Reservation Systems, F&B POS).• Design and implement efficient data models and integration logic to handle real‑time streaming and batch data flows across the hospitality tech stack.• Collaborate with the product team to translate hospitality‑specific operational requirements—such as guest journey mapping or revenue event processing—into technical specifications.• Build and optimize services for data validation, transformation, and enrichment to ensure high‑quality, actionable intelligence for hotel operators.• Contribute to the architecture and reliability of our platform, focusing on performance, security, and seamless interoperability with industry‑standard hospitality APIs and protocols.• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues related to data pipelines or service integrations, and help maintain comprehensive documentation.

Requirements:• 3+ years of professional backend development experience, with a proven track record of building and maintaining production services in Python (preferred), Node.js, or Go.• Strong experience with API design (REST, GraphQL) and backend frameworks; familiarity with async processing and event‑driven architectures is a plus.• Hands‑on experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases, and designing schemas for complex, interconnected data.• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools.• Experience with or strong interest in data integration, ETL/ELT processes, or working with third‑party APIs; exposure to hospitality technology systems is a distinct advantage.• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced startup environment, with excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative, product‑focused mindset.• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have:• Prior experience in the hospitality technology sector or working with hotel data systems (PMS, CRS, Channel Managers).• Knowledge of real‑time data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis).• Familiarity with modern data stack tools for orchestration (e.g., Airflow) and observability.• Understanding of data security best practices, especially concerning PII and financial data in a hotel context.
