Job Description

Medical Officer is responsible for providing medical assessment and management of patients within the scope of professional qualification and hospital protocols. The includes history taking, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment of routine medical conditions, review of investigations, emergency management, patient monitoring, clinical documentation, coordination with specialists, and timely escalation or referral of complex and deteriorating cases.

• Assess patients presenting with acute, routine, and emergency medical conditions.
• Obtain relevant medical history and perform appropriate physical examinations.
• Develop preliminary diagnosis and management plans within professional scope.
• Order or coordinate relevant laboratory and diagnostic investigations.
• Review investigation results and monitor treatment response.
• Prescribe or administer treatment according to professional authorization.
• Monitor vital signs and clinical condition of admitted or observed patients.
• Identify clinical deterioration and escalate concerns promptly.
• Provide initial management and stabilization of medical emergencies.
• Coordinate specialist consultations and referrals when required.
• Conduct regular patient rounds and review clinical progress.
• Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, ICU, and other departments.
• Maintain complete and accurate case sheets, progress notes, and medical records.
• Prepare discharge summaries, referral notes, and other clinical documentation.
• Communicate treatment plans, precautions, and follow-up instructions to patients and attendants.
• Support admission, transfer, discharge, and referral processes.
• Participate in clinical handovers, case discussions, audits, and quality activities.
• Follow infection prevention, medication safety, patient safety, and hospital clinical protocols.
• Escalate complex, high-risk, or unstable cases to senior physicians or specialists.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, ethical standards, and professional conduct.
