Job summary

K.K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital in Bhuj is seeking a Cath Lab Technician to support cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures. You will ensure the readiness of the cath lab, equipment, and consumables, and assist physicians and nurses during procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare the cath lab before scheduled cardiac procedures.
• Check imaging systems, monitors and haemodynamic equipment for readiness.
• Ensure availability of catheters, wires, contrast materials and consumables.
• Assist cardiologists and nursing staff during catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Maintain sterile practices and assist with patient preparation and transfer.
• Document procedures and maintain cath lab records and logs.

Job Description

Cath Lab Technician is responsible for preparing and supporting cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures by ensuring the readiness of the cath lab, equipment, instruments, and consumables. The includes assisting cardiologists and nursing teams, operating and checking cath lab equipment within scope, maintaining sterile practices, supporting patient preparation and transfer, documenting procedures, managing supplies, and coordinating equipment maintenance and infection prevention activities.

• Prepare the cath lab before scheduled cardiac procedures.
• Check imaging systems, monitors, haemodynamic equipment, and related accessories for readiness.
• Ensure availability of catheters, wires, sheaths, contrast materials, consumables, and emergency supplies.
• Verify patient identity, procedure details, and required documentation.
• Assist with patient preparation and positioning for cardiac procedures.
• Assist cardiologists and nursing staff during catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Operate cath lab equipment according to training and authorized procedures.
• Support setup and monitoring of haemodynamic and imaging systems.
• Maintain sterile and aseptic practices throughout procedures.
• Assist with preparation and handling of procedural instruments and consumables.
• Monitor equipment parameters and report technical abnormalities promptly.
• Support emergency procedures and resuscitation when required.
• Assist with safe transfer of patients to recovery, ICU, CCU, or ward.
• Handle and label procedural specimens or samples as required.
• Maintain cath lab registers, procedure records, equipment logs, and checklists.
• Monitor stock of cath lab consumables and coordinate replenishment.
• Follow biomedical waste management and infection prevention procedures.
• Coordinate with biomedical engineering for equipment servicing and repairs.
• Assist with room cleaning, disinfection, and turnover after procedures.
• Participate in cath lab quality audits, equipment checks, training, and patient safety initiatives.
