Zodiac HR Consultants in Mumbai seeks a senior leader to head Mechanical Static Design, overseeing engineers and draftsmen to ensure robust, code-compliant designs for tanks, pipelines, and associated equipment.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree with about 20 years of relevant experience in static equipment design, piping, and tender support, plus strong leadership and vendor coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical with 20 years of relevant experience.
• Well versed with static equipment design including cross country pipelines & inplant piping.
• Knowledge of API 650, API 620, ASME codes, OISD 236/118, ISO standards.
• Prior experience in design of Tank Fabrication and Steel pipeline works.

Designation : MECHANICAL STATIC DESIGN HEAD / MANAGER

Alternate saturday off

Job Description

• Ensure optimal utilisation of the design team - engineers & draftsmen


• Prepare / Review / Approve Design calculations, BOQs, etc.


• Provide inputs & guidance to the engineers / draftsmen for preparation of GAD, Fabrication,shell development, piping layouts, isometric drawings etc.


• Liaising with project site execution team / client consultant for updating all engineering activities


• Resolve issues related to design changes/material specs during execution / construction phase of the projects.


• Provide/ Prepare Technical bid package based on the tender / drawings along with complete

technical specifications including drawings, datasheet etc.

• Provide relevant technical inputs to procurement team for RFQ.


• Liaise with vendors for evaluation of technical offers and ensure that material/equipment/item procured is complying to tender specifications or client requirement.

Provide technical inputs to contracts manager for variation/ claims order due to changes in tender specifications/ design/ material.

• Liaising with external design consultants.


• Review and optimise design in line with latest standard, codes, safety and costs.


• Update and review daily engineering progress for all projects and provide relevant alerts to the project co-ordinator/ planning engineer to avoid delays in execution due to non-availability of fabrication/ construction drawings.


• Ability to understand and use relevant National and International Codes and Standards, use them effectively in designing activities and providing optimal design solution including value engineering.


• Knowledge of compatibility of material of construction.


• Ensure that project timelines are not delayed due to engineering issues.

Desired Qualification Criteria & Skill sets

• Bachelors degree in mechanical with minimum 20 years of relevant experience


• Well versed with static equipment design including cross country pipelines & inplant piping


• Good knowledge of relevant standards like API 650, API 620, ASME codes, OISD 236/118, ISO standards and other relevant standards / codes.


• Prior experience in design of Tank Fabrication and Steel pipeline works


• Exposure to designing of double walled refrigerated tanks & mounded bullets for LPG /LNG storage terminal


• Preferred Industry Chemicals, Oil & Gas


• Must be able to lead a team of design engineers & draftsmen


• Self-motivated and high level performing


• Ability to perform & deliver under minimal instructions/supervision.


• Excellent time management and planning skills


• Methodological approach with high attention to details


• Excellent IT skills and relevant knowledge of design softwares including Staad.


• Ability to forecast and plan for pending issues and resolve them timely.


• Knowhow in civil design will be added advantage.
