Job summary

Gold Seal Engineering in Sriperumbudur seeks an experienced maintenance technician to uphold production reliability. You will perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production machinery and plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems in EPDM extrusion lines, rubber mixing mills, moulding, cutting, conveyors, ovens, and related equipment.
• Carry out maintenance of gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, chains, sprockets, rollers, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Attend machine breakdowns and restore equipment safely with minimal production downtime.
• Conduct routine inspection of machines for abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, wear, and mechanical defects.
• Perform alignment, lubrication, tightening, adjustment, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Carry out preventive maintenance as per daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedules.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve machine availability and reliability.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production machinery and plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems in EPDM extrusion lines, rubber mixing mills, moulding machines, cutting machines, conveyors, ovens, and associated equipment.
• Carry out maintenance of gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, chains, sprockets, rollers, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Attend machine breakdowns and restore equipment safely with minimum production downtime.
• Conduct routine inspection of machines for abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, wear, and mechanical defects.
• Perform alignment, lubrication, tightening, adjustment, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Carry out preventive maintenance as per daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic cylinders, valves, FRL units, air lines, hydraulic systems, pumps, and actuators.
• Support machine installation, dismantling, shifting, commissioning, and trial runs.
• Carry out machine modifications and mechanical improvements to improve productivity, reliability, safety, and quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis for repeated mechanical failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Maintain and update machine history cards, PM records, breakdown reports, checklists, and maintenance documentation.
• Monitor critical spare parts and coordinate with Purchase/Stores for timely availability.
• Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and service providers for specialized maintenance activities.
• Support maintenance of plant utilities including compressors, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, HVAC, STP equipment, and material-handling equipment.
• Ensure proper lubrication management and maintain lubrication schedules for all critical equipment.
• Follow LOTO, work permit, machine guarding, PPE, and mechanical safety requirements.
• Support 5S, safety inspections, internal audits, and corrective action activities.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve machine availability and equipment reliability.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong hands-on experience in industrial mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of EPDM extrusion, rubber mixing, moulding, cutting, and finishing equipment.
• Good knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, shafts, couplings, chains, sprockets, rollers, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and assembly drawings.
• Experience in machine alignment, preventive maintenance, lubrication, and mechanical inspection.
• Ability to independently diagnose mechanical breakdowns and identify root causes.
• Good knowledge of machine safety, guarding, LOTO, and safe maintenance practices.
• Experience in machine installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement activities.
• Good maintenance documentation and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts and attend emergency breakdowns.
• Good communication, teamwork, discipline, and problem-solving attitude.
