Job summary

Executive Ship Management invites applications for the Marine Superintendent, a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations within the assigned fleet, monitoring day-to-day marine activities and ensuring adherence to ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company standards.

You will coordinate inspections, vetting processes, incident investigations, and corrective actions, working closely with masters, chief officers, and HSSE teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of navigation, cargo handling and safety management.
• Experience in Ship Management and Vetting with ISM/SOLAS/MARPOL compliance.
• Proven Supervisory skills across multiple vessels and teams.
• Sea-going experience as Chief Officer or Master on tankers or specialized vessels.
• Recognized maritime qualification (Master/Chief Mate) preferred.
• Strong communication and reporting skills; proficient in marine software.
• Willingness to travel to vessels and other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Marine Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for overseeing safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations within the assigned fleet. This role includes monitoring day-to-day marine operations, ensuring adherence to international and company standards, and supporting shipboard leadership in maintaining high safety and environmental performance. The Marine Superintendent coordinates inspections, vetting processes, incident investigations, and corrective actions, while working closely with masters and chief officers to address operational and navigational issues. The role involves regular liaison with technical, crewing, and HSSE teams, preparation of operational reports, and participation in audits and stakeholder meetings. The Marine Superintendent also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, training support, and implementation of best practices across vessels.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Marine Operations and Vessel Operations skills, including practical knowledge of navigation, cargo handling, and safety management.
• Candidates should possess Ship Management and Vetting experience, with familiarity in compliance with international regulations, industry guidelines, and oil major requirements.
• Candidates should possess Supervisory Skills, including the ability to guide and support shipboard personnel, manage multiple vessels, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant sea-going experience as a senior deck officer (e.g., Chief Officer or Master) on tankers or other specialized vessels is highly beneficial.
• A recognized maritime qualification, such as a Certificate of Competency (Master/Chief Mate), and thorough understanding of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other applicable conventions are preferred.
• Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in standard office and marine management software, are important.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment, travel to vessels and other locations as required, and maintain a high level of professional integrity and safety culture.
