Synergy Marine Group invites experienced Marine Superintendents to join our shore-based team in Chennai, India, providing operational support to vessels worldwide and ensuring compliance with SMS and international regulations. You will lead safety initiatives, coordinate audits, investigate incidents, and mentor vessel staff to promote a strong safety culture while driving continuous fleet improvement.

The role requires Master Mariner qualification and extensive tanker experience, with readiness

Qualifications

  • Master Mariner (FG) Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailed as Master on ocean-going vessels.
  • Strong experience on Oil and Chemical Tankers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Company SMS, policies, procedures, and checklists.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with IMO, Flag State, Port State, ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other applicable regulations
  • Support vessels 24/7 in operational contingencies and emergencies.
  • Drive successful outcomes during PSC, RightShip, Class, Flag, P&I, vetting, and third-party inspections and audits.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct and coordinate ISM, ISPS, and MLC audits across the fleet.
  • Monitor fleet KPIs and support vessels in achieving operational and safety targets.
  • Review, improve, and enhance Safety Management System (SMS) processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with vessel teams and shore management to promote continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Act as a trusted advisor and mentor to vessel staff, fostering a strong safety culture

Job description

About the Role :

As a Marine Superintendent, you will provide shore-based operational support to vessels, ensuring compliance with company requirements, international regulations, and industry best practices. You will play a critical role in promoting safe navigation, cargo operations, occupational health, safety, environmental protection, and continuous fleet improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the Company Safety Management System (SMS), policies, procedures, and checklists.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with IMO, Flag State, Port State, ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other applicable regulations
  • Support vessels 24/7 in operational contingencies and emergency situations.
  • Drive successful outcomes during PSC, RightShip, Class, Flag, P&I, vetting, and third-party inspections and audits.

Skills Required

  • Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and provide timely support to vessels globally.
