Job summary

Comaea Consulting represents a leading shipping MNC hiring a Marine Superintendent in India. Based in Chennai, Mumbai, or Delhi, you will report to the Fleet Manager and oversee operations of merchant vessels to ensure safety, compliance, and performance.

Responsibilities include planning resources, maintenance planning, cargo operations, voyage planning, budgeting, and overseeing crews. A Master Mariner or equivalent diploma is required with 1–2 years in similar roles and prior Master sailing

Qualifications

• Qualified Master Mariner or equivalent diploma in marine/navigation.
• 1-2 years of experience as Marine Superintendent in Operations managing Merchant Vessels.
• Minimum twelve months of sailing experience on Merchant Vessel as a Master.
• Possess Shipboard ISM/ISPS code knowledge, Marine insurance, and seamanship.
• People oriented and passionate about developing shipboard teams.
• Business acumen with the ability to manage budgets for multiple vessels.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills; able to communicate with stakeholders.
• Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Up-to-date with regulatory requirements and their implementation.

• Plan and allocate resources, set processes, and implement maintenance plans for ships under charge.
• Monitor bulk carrier cargo loading, discharging, and carriage in consultation with vessel and owners.
• Oversee hold cleaning, ballasting, and de-ballasting per rules and regulations.
• Monitor weather and route planning for safe, efficient operations.
• Develop voyage plans to maximize cargo capacity and minimize fuel consumption.
• Coordinate with vessel crews and shore teams for smooth operations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits for compliance with policies and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to crews as needed.
• Manage budgeting and cost control for assigned vessels.

Marine Superintendent - based in Chennai, Mumbai, or Delhi

ORGANIZATION:

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will be a key member in the ashore team in-charge of managing the operations and performance of vessels assigned. Your key role is to ensure efficient and safe operations of the companys merchant vessels, quality management, and that all international marine requirements are adhered.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing support to the vessel to ensure safety of the cargo, navigation, and other marine operational matters.
• Planning and allocation of resources, setting processes, implementing improvement plans in a rigorous and structured way for planned and routine maintenance of the ships under your charge.
• Monitor bulk carrier cargo loading, discharging, and carriage in consultation with vessel and owners.
• Oversee hold cleaning operations, ballasting, and de-ballasting in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Monitor weather and route planning to ensure safe and efficient operations.

YOUR PROFILE:

• You must be a qualified Master Mariner, or equivalent diploma holder in marine/navigation.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working as a Marine Superintendent in Operations managing Merchant Vessels.
• Minimum twelve months of sailing experience on Merchant Vessel as a Master is a must.
• Possess Shipboard ISM / ISPS code, Marine insurance, and Seamanship knowledge.
• People oriented and passionate about developing shipboard teams.
• Business acumen with capability to manage the budgetary responsibilities for multiple vessels.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively with any stakeholder.
• Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Well updated with the latest regulatory requirements and its implementation.
