Role Purpose
To lead and manage manufacturing operations at company with accountability for safe, efficient, timely and quality-compliant production.
The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for translating the production plan into daily execution, ensuring optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials and processes, while continuously improving productivity, cost, quality and delivery performance.
The role requires a strong shop-floor leader and problem solver who can build a disciplined manufacturing culture, develop the team and drive continuous improvement.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Planning & Execution
- Execute the production plan in line with customer requirements and agreed delivery schedules.
- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Monitor production progress against plan and take timely corrective actions for deviations.
- Ensure effective coordination with Planning, SCM, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Projects.
- Ensure smooth execution of both regular production and new / expanded manufacturing activities.
B. Shop-Floor Management
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations and ensure strong shop-floor discipline.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, work instructions and defined process parameters.
- Establish effective daily review mechanisms for production, quality, safety and delivery.
- Ensure abnormalities are identified and resolved at the shop-floor level rather than being escalated repeatedly.
- Develop a culture where supervisors and engineers take ownership of problems and bring solutions.
C. Productivity & Operational Excellence
- Drive improvement in productivity, OEE, manpower utilization, machine utilization and manufacturing cycle time.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, waiting time, unnecessary movement, rework and other forms of manufacturing losses.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen / continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish productivity norms and monitor performance against defined standards.
- Improve manufacturing throughput without compromising safety or quality.
D. Quality
- Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet defined quality requirements.
- Work closely with Quality to reduce rejection, rework, customer complaints and process deviations.
- Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Establish process controls at critical manufacturing stages.
- Ensure first-time-right manufacturing wherever applicable.
- Promote a quality-at-source culture within the manufacturing team.
E. Safety
- Ensure zero-tolerance approach toward unsafe practices and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure compliance with EHS requirements, SOPs and safe operating practices.
- Conduct regular shop-floor safety reviews and ensure timely closure of identified actions.
- Ensure risk assessments are conducted for critical manufacturing activities.
- Immediately address unsafe conditions and stop work wherever there is an imminent safety risk.
- Develop safety ownership among supervisors and operators.
F. Manpower & Team Management
- Plan and deploy manpower based on production requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of available manpower across manufacturing areas.
- Develop supervisors, engineers and operators through structured on-the-job training.
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate with HR / Training for capability development.
- Establish clear accountability and performance expectations for the manufacturing team.
- Build a high-performance culture based on ownership, discipline and problem solving.
- Manage absenteeism, manpower productivity and skill availability.
G. Process & Capacity Management
- Ensure manufacturing processes are capable of meeting current and future production requirements.
- Identify capacity constraints and recommend appropriate manpower, equipment, tooling and infrastructure requirements.
- Support capacity expansion and new manufacturing projects.
- Participate in process design, layout improvement and manufacturing readiness for new products / projects.
- Ensure proper commissioning and stabilization of new equipment and processes.
H. Cost Management
- Drive reduction in manufacturing conversion cost.
- Monitor overtime, manpower cost, consumables, energy and other manufacturing expenses.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities.
- Ensure optimum utilization of materials and minimize manufacturing losses.
- Support preparation and achievement of manufacturing cost targets.
