Functional QA Engineer API, Database & Functional Testing
Job Summary
We are looking for a Functional QA Engineer with strong experience in Functional, API, and Database Testing to ensure the quality and reliability of web, mobile, and API-based applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with manual testing, REST APIs, SQL, Jira, and Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
- Perform Functional, Regression, Integration, System, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
- Validate applications across web and mobile platforms.
- Perform API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
- Validate API request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
- Perform database testing and backend data validation using SQL.
- Verify data consistency and integrity between applications and databases.
- Log, track, and manage defects using Jira.
- Collaborate with developers, BAs, and Product Owners to identify and resolve issues.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Prepare test execution reports and quality metrics.
Required Skills
Functional Testing
- Strong experience in manual testing and test case design.
- Functional, Regression, Integration, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
- Requirement analysis and traceability.
API Testing
- Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs.
- JSON/XML request and response validation.
- Knowledge of Bearer Token, OAuth, and Basic Authentication.
- API collections and environment management.
Database Testing
- Strong SQL knowledge.
- Experience with data validation and backend verification.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries.
Tools & Methodologies
- Hands-on experience with Jira for defect tracking and test management.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Good to Have
- Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Basic understanding of CI/CD and DevOps concepts.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- ISTQB Foundation certification is an added advantage.
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
