Qualifications

• Hands-on manual testing with test case design.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
• Perform Functional, Regression, Integration, System, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
• Validate applications across web and mobile platforms.
• Perform API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
• Validate API payloads, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
• Perform database testing and backend data validation using SQL.
• Log, track, and manage defects using Jira.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs, and Product Owners to identify and resolve issues.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and prepare test execution reports.

Functional QA Engineer API, Database & Functional Testing

Job Summary

We are looking for a Functional QA Engineer with strong experience in Functional, API, and Database Testing to ensure the quality and reliability of web, mobile, and API-based applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with manual testing, REST APIs, SQL, Jira, and Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
• Perform Functional, Regression, Integration, System, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
• Validate applications across web and mobile platforms.
• Perform API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
• Validate API request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
• Perform database testing and backend data validation using SQL.
• Verify data consistency and integrity between applications and databases.
• Log, track, and manage defects using Jira.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs, and Product Owners to identify and resolve issues.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
• Prepare test execution reports and quality metrics.

Required Skills

Functional Testing

• Strong experience in manual testing and test case design.
• Functional, Regression, Integration, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
• Requirement analysis and traceability.

API Testing

• Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs.
• JSON/XML request and response validation.
• Knowledge of Bearer Token, OAuth, and Basic Authentication.
• API collections and environment management.

Database Testing

• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Experience with data validation and backend verification.
• Ability to write complex SQL queries.

Tools & Methodologies

• Hands-on experience with Jira for defect tracking and test management.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Good to Have

• Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD and DevOps concepts.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• ISTQB Foundation certification is an added advantage.

Education

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
