Job summary

Quinstreet Software India is seeking a Manual QA Engineer in Pune. This role focuses on rigorous manual testing, API validation, and SQL-based data checks to ensure robust software releases.

The candidate will work in a hybrid setup, collaborate with product and development teams, and participate in agile ceremonies to drive quality across web applications and services. You will design test plans, write test cases, execute regression suites, and track defects end-to-end, with emphasis on REST

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in manual software testing or QA.
• Strong knowledge of testing concepts, levels, and best practices.
• Hands-on testing of web applications and end-to-end workflows.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and tools like Postman, Swagger, or Insomnia.
• SQL queries to validate data in relational databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr or Xray or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and specs to design test scenarios and cases.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, exploratory, usability, and end-to-end testing of web apps.
• Test RESTful APIs and validate payloads, responses, status codes and third-party integrations.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and analysts to ensure quality releases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and backlog refinement.
• Prepare and maintain test plans, test data, regression suites, and reports.
• Validate data using SQL and perform backend DB testing.
• Conduct production validation and assist troubleshooting as needed.
• Perform cross-browser and responsive testing across supported browsers/devices.
• Identify gaps, edge cases, and risks early in SDLC.
• Provide updates on testing progress, defects, and release readiness.
• Contribute to QA process improvements and documentation.

Manual QA Engineer - This is a Manual QA role where SQL and API are important.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications to develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, exploratory, usability, and end-to-end testing of web-based applications.
• Test RESTful APIs and validate request payloads, responses, status codes, error handling, and integrations with third-party systems.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution using appropriate defect-management tools.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure high-quality releases.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Prepare and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, regression suites, and test execution reports.
• Validate application data using SQL queries and perform backend database testing.
• Conduct production validation and support troubleshooting of issues reported by customers or internal teams.
• Perform cross-browser and responsive testing across supported browsers and devices.
• Identify gaps, edge cases, and potential risks early in the software development lifecycle.
• Provide clear updates on testing progress, defects, release readiness, and quality risks.
• Contribute to improving QA processes, testing standards, documentation, and overall product quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in manual software testing or quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of software testing concepts, methodologies, test levels, defect life cycles, and quality-assurance best practices.
• Hands-on experience testing web applications and complex end-to-end business workflows.
• Strong experience in functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, and user-acceptance testing.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger, Insomnia, or similar tools.
• Ability to write SQL queries for validating data in relational databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Experience creating detailed test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and execution reports.
• Experience using defect and test-management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, Xray, or similar platforms.
• Good understanding of client-server architecture, HTTP/HTTPS, browser developer tools, JSON, and API-based integrations.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate defects, risks, and testing outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned features, and manage testing priorities within release timelines.

Additional Skills Good to Have

• Experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or WebdriverIO.
• Experience creating, maintaining, or executing automated regression test suites.
• Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience with API automation tools or frameworks such as Rest Assured, Postman/Newman, or Karate.
• Understanding of automation frameworks such as Page Object Model, data-driven testing, and behavior-driven development.
• Familiarity with unit-testing frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, or Pytest.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Git and standard source-control workflows.
• Basic knowledge of performance-testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
• Familiarity with accessibility, security, or mobile application testing.
• Experience testing financial-services, lending, payment, or other transaction-based applications.
