Job summary

Randstad in Chennai, India, seeks a Manager Stores & Dispatch to oversee end-to-end warehouse and dispatch operations. You will manage stores, inventory control, and logistics, driving digitalization with ERP/MRP and barcode systems to ensure accurate, real-time stock data.

The role requires 12–15+ years in stores/inventory and strong leadership to streamline processes and reduce costs while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. On-site position with standard hours, extended as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering.
• Experience: 12 to 15+ years in stores, warehouse, inventory management, and dispatch in heavy engineering, manufacturing, or fabrication industries.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems, barcode/QR tagging, and inventory control techniques.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage store teams, streamline processes, and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
• Bonus: Certifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Lean/5S, and ISO/export experience.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations: Manage receiving, inspection, storage, internal issues, and dispatches for materials and finished goods.
• Inventory Control: Conduct cycle counts, audits, and maintain ERP records; minimize excess/obsolete stock using FIFO/FEFO/ABC.
• Digitalization: Implement ERP, MRP, and barcode/QR-code systems to ensure real-time tracking.
• Production Support: Ensure timely material movement through production stages to avoid delays.
• Subcontracting: Track inventory sent to external vendors for machining or processing; ensure on-time return.
• Dispatch & Logistics: Plan loading, vehicle scheduling, packing, and shipment with cost efficiency.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure crane/forklift safety and adherence to policies.
• Team Leadership: Train and guide staff; foster a disciplined work environment.

Job Title: Manager Stores & Dispatch

Department: Stores & Logistics

Location: Chennai, India

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM 6:00 PM (Additional hours as required by work volume)

Job Purpose

Manage daily operations across Stores and Dispatch. Ensure raw materials, parts, and finished products are safely stored, accurately tracked in the ERP system, and delivered on time to support factory production and customer dispatches. Drive continuous improvement, process automation, and cost savings in inventory handling.

Key Responsibilities

• Store Operations: Manage receiving, inspection, storage, internal issues, and dispatches for raw materials, finished goods, spares, and tools. Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized using 5S/6S standards.
• Inventory Control: Conduct routine cycle counts and stock audits. Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP. Minimize excess, slow-moving, and obsolete stock using FIFO/FEFO and ABC inventory methods.
• Digitalization: Implement and use ERP, MRP, and barcode/QR-code systems to eliminate manual data entry and maintain accurate real-time inventory tracking.
• Production Support: Ensure materials move quickly through each production stage without creating factory delays.
• Subcontracting: Track inventory sent to external vendors for machining or processing to ensure on-time return and no material loss.
• Dispatch & Logistics: Plan loading, vehicle scheduling, packing, and shipment of final goods. Ensure heavy machinery and magnetic equipment are packed and moved safely at optimum transport costs.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure safe operation of cranes, forklifts, and lifting gear. Follow safety regulations and company quality policies.
• Team Leadership: Manage, train, and guide store staff and warehouse workers. Cross-train team members and build a disciplined work environment.
