Job summary

Torix Works Llp, based at our manufacturing facility near Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, seeks a capable Manager Production & Planning to lead end-to-end production and planning across multiple home care and shoe care products.

You will own production scheduling, coordinate with brand-owner customers, optimize material usage, ensure quality and on-time delivery, and drive continuous improvement on shop floor operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / BE / BTech in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production and planning.
  • Experience in Home Care, Personal Care, Shoe Care, FMCG or contract manufacturing preferred.
  • Hands-on multi-line manufacturing operations including mixing, filling, capping, labeling, and packing.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, inventory management, quality systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end production planning and scheduling across multiple product lines.
  • Drive daily production execution to meet targets and on-time delivery.
  • Act as primary operational contact for brand-owner/customer teams.
  • Coordinate materials planning with Procurement and Stores.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

We are a third-party contract manufacturer specializing in Home Care and Shoe Care products, manufacturing products for leading FMCG and consumer brands.

Our manufacturing facility near Pondicherry produces a diverse range of products, including toilet cleaners, floor cleaners, shoe shine sponges, powder shoe polish, liquid shoe polish, paste shoe polish, and other home-cleaning formats.


Role Overview

We are looking for a technically competent and experienced Manager Production & Planning to lead production operations and production planning at our manufacturing facility.


This is a customer-facing leadership role. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the operational relationship with brand-owner customers, representing the factory during reviews with customer senior management, and ensuring that the plant consistently meets quality, production, capacity, and delivery commitments across multiple Home Care and Shoe Care product lines.


The ideal candidate should have strong shop-floor leadership, production planning, customer management, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with hands-on experience in FMCG or contract manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
  • Own end-to-end production planning and scheduling across multiple product lines, including:
    • Toilet cleaners
    • Floor cleaners
    • Shoe shine sponges
    • Powder shoe polish
    • Liquid and paste shoe polish
    • Other home-cleaning products
  • Develop production plans considering multiple SKUs, batch sizes, production priorities, changeovers, manpower, machine availability, and customer delivery schedules.
  • Drive daily production execution to achieve production targets, quality standards, and on-time delivery commitments.
  • Monitor production plans versus actual output and take corrective action to address deviations.
  • Optimize production schedules to improve machine utilization, manpower productivity, and overall operational efficiency.
Customer Management
  • Act as the primary operational point of contact for brand-owner/customer teams.
  • Understand customer requirements, production schedules, quality expectations, and delivery commitments and translate them into effective factory execution.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding production plans, capacity, trials, dispatch schedules, quality issues, and other operational matters.
  • Represent the factory during customer reviews and operational meetings.
  • Present production performance, capacity plans, operational challenges, and improvement initiatives confidently to customer senior management.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional, and long-term relationships with customer teams.
Material & Inventory Planning
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Stores for timely planning and availability of raw materials (RM) and packing materials (PM).
  • Monitor material requirements against production plans and customer schedules.
  • Ensure optimum RM and PM inventory levels to prevent stock-outs, production delays, or unnecessary inventory buildup.
  • Proactively identify potential material shortages and coordinate timely resolution.
Quality & Process Compliance
  • Ensure production activities comply with approved SOPs, quality standards, customer specifications, and process requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Quality team to address quality deviations, customer complaints, and process-related issues.
  • Ensure proper adherence to production processes, batch documentation, and quality controls.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions for recurring production and quality issues.
Operational Efficiency
  • Monitor and improve machine and line efficiency, OEE, manpower productivity, and production capacity utilization.
  • Manage manpower deployment and shift scheduling across mixing, filling, capping, labelling, and packing operations.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, cost, quality, and delivery.
New Product & Process Development
  • Support new product introductions, production trials, line trials, and scale-up activities.
  • Coordinate with customers and internal teams during product development and commercialization.
  • Ensure production readiness for new SKUs, formats, packaging, and process requirements.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure factory operations comply with applicable statutory requirements, labour laws, safety regulations, and factory norms.
  • Prepare and present regular MIS, production performance reports, capacity utilization reports, planning reports, and improvement plans.
  • Provide management and customer stakeholders with accurate and timely operational updates.
  • Monitor key production KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in production and planning.
  • Experience in Home Care, Personal Care, Shoe Care, FMCG, or similar contract manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience managing multi-line manufacturing operations involving mixing, filling, capping, labelling, and packing.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, inventory management, quality systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Prior experience working directly with brand owners/customer teams in a third-party or contract manufacturing environment will be strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple SKUs, production batches, changeovers, and customer-driven production schedules.

Location

The position is based at our manufacturing facility near Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. The candidate should be willing to work from the factory location and manage day-to-day production operations on-site.
