Job summary

Royal Enfield in Chennai invites an experienced procurement leader to oversee E&E components supply, ensuring uninterrupted production and protected annual volumes. You will align with MRP schedules, manage JIT materials, and resolve constraints with defined targets.

The role requires driving supplier performance, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration across planning, quality, stores, engineering and finance.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10 to 20 years in automotive procurement with team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of E&E components, MRP, ERP (SAP or similar) and supplier development.
• Negotiation, conflict resolution, risk assessment, agility, stakeholder management, coaching, and analytical decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4 to ensure zero production loss and secure annual volumes.
• Plan material requirements, manage JIT components, and resolve constraints with fixed dates.
• Protect volumes using SBP forecast and pre-block 3-year incremental volumes.
• Collaborate with Quality to resolve issues and drive standard processes across the supply chain.
• Engage internal teams in capacity and quality improvement programs.
• Monitor market dynamics, risks, and supplier performance; develop contingency plans.
• Mentor and lead 4 team members and collaborate across planning, stores, engineering, and finance.

Job description

Lead a team of 4 to secure uninterrupted supply of E&E components (harnesses, connectors, sensors, relays, PCBs, ECUs) with zero production loss, protected annual volumes and strong supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and supply assurance

• Align with monthly MRP schedules and plan material requirements with the team to ensure zero production loss.
• Manage JIT components with the flexibility to handle changes in manufacturing sequence.
• Review team constraints daily and resolve them through action plans with fixed target dates.

Volume protection

• Use the SBP annual forecast to secure and protect annual volumes with suppliers.
• Block incremental volume for the next 3 years well in advance.
• Build strong relationships with electronic component suppliers and mitigate risks before they affect production.
• Resolve supplier conflicts and challenges periodically to keep the supply chain smooth.
• Visit vendor facilities regularly to verify allocated capacity and check that their performance metrics meet the defined standards.

Quality

• Work with Quality to understand and resolve quality issues, and drive standard processes across the supply chain.
• Drive quality metrics to target, ahead of the deadlines.

Capacity and improvement programs*

• Engage internal functional teams in capacity and quality enhancement programs to achieve enterprise goals on time.

Market and risk management

• Track market dynamics (shortages, allocation, lead times, price trends) and raise alerts well before a crisis.
• Assess risks and deliver solutions within the timeframe, including alternate sources and contingency plans.

Team leadership

• Mentor and lead 4 team members, and collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams (planning, quality, stores, engineering, finance, production).
• Bring resilience and agility to the fast-changing E&E commodity environment.

• BE in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• 10 to 20 years in automotive procurement, with team leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of E&E components, MRP, ERP (SAP or similar) and supplier development
• Negotiation, conflict resolution, risk assessment, agility, stakeholder management, coaching, and analytical decision-making under pressure.

Travel

Up to 50% per month (supplier visits).
