Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd. seeks a senior procurement leader to drive end-to-end sourcing for ESS/BESS, including Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries and related components in India. You will identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage global and domestic suppliers to ensure continuity and quality.

Work with Engineering, R&D, Projects, Sales, Finance, Quality, and Operations to align procurement goals, negotiate favorable terms, and lead cost reductions through data-driven MIS reporting.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Supply Chain Management, Strategic Procurement, Material Planning, and Vendor Development across domestic and international markets.
• Proven expertise in sourcing and procurement for Energy Storage Systems (ESS/BESS), Battery Technologies and Electrical Equipment.
• Strong understanding of global supply markets, import procurement, logistics management, inventory control, and supplier performance optimization.
• Demonstrated success in driving cost reductions, operational efficiencies, supplier excellence, and long-term business partnerships.
• Recognized leader with a strong track record of building high-performing teams and transforming procurement functions into strategic value-creation organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, evaluation, qualification, and development of domestic and global suppliers for Energy Storage Systems (ESS/BESS), including Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Batteries, Hybrid/Bidirectional Inverters, UPS Systems, and battery raw materials.
• Develop strategic supplier partnerships focused on long-term value creation, innovation, technology advancement, and business continuity.
• Drive supplier negotiations covering technical specifications, warranty terms, service level agreements (SLA), after-sales support, and long-term supply commitments.
• Manage the complete supplier onboarding and development lifecycle, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, technical discussions, Proof of Concept (POC), audits, commercial negotiations, and lead-time optimization.

Job description

• Drive inventory optimization strategies through demand planning, material requirement planning, and data-driven decision-making to maintain desired inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs.
• Monitor procurement expenditures, budget adherence, and cost-saving initiatives to achieve annual productivity and profitability targets

Technical Leadership – ESS/BESS Solutions

• Use deep technical expertise in battery technologies, energy storage systems, power electronics, and associated components to evaluate products and suppliers.
• Analyse emerging technologies, market developments, and industry trends within the ESS/BESS ecosystem to support strategic sourcing decisions.
• Provide technical guidance during supplier selection, component qualification, product evaluation, and technology adoption initiatives.
• Support product localization, value engineering, and technology enhancement programs to improve competitiveness and sustainability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Partnership

• Collaborate closely with Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, R&D, Projects, Sales, Finance, Quality, and Operations teams to align procurement objectives with business goals.
• Present and review key management information system (MIS) reports, including procurement dashboards, inventory analysis, supplier performance metrics, cost optimization initiatives, and delivery performance with senior leadership.
• Drive transformation initiatives to position PSM as a strategic value-creation function contributing to organizational growth and profitability.
